Biden Administration Set to Relax Outdoor Mask Guidance

“The guidance could come as early as this week, and will reportedly offer different guidelines for those who are fully vaccinated and those who are not.”

“Also important to remember is that Orange County Florida still has a mask mandate that Disney would very likely comply with.”

Good news. And considering how state and local governments are chomping at the bit to get rid of mask mandates, I bet Orange County will follow suit.

Probably to try and clarify all the confusion that the states (and Seaworld lol!) started last week. Disneyland doesn't want to deal with checking vaccine cards... having to check residency is enough hassle.

Without a doubt! That was crazy! Happy they put out a statement! I bet they were getting a lot of calls!!!!

Yep. And it didn't help the confusion any that when the state announced vaccinated out-of-staters would be allowed, one of the "unscrupulous" Disney news sites jumped to conclusions rather than waiting for official word from Disney and started reporting it as fact that Disneyland would allow vaccinated out-of-staters.

IAAPA Study: Theme Park Industry Can Move to 3ft Physical Distancing

“A new study released by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) in partnership with National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Florida High Tech Corridor, says that theme parks can operate at a 3ft physical distancing protocol instead of the widely accepted 6ft physical distancing (h/t: Scott Gustin).
While the conclusions of the experiment are summed up that it is safer to operate at a 3ft physical distancing protocol while requiring a face covering than operating a 6ft physical distancing protocol without the face covering, the results of the experiment would suggest that a 3ft physical distancing requirement with a mandatory face covering would be considered safe.”

That lines up with my guesses/prediction. I think 6ft -> 3ft will be the next change. Schools have already gone to that, in big part because the classrooms were never large enough to do 6ft. A mask is much better protection (for others) than distance was.

Agreed with that tweet. I think reducing distancing and keeping masks is the smartest move forward for Disney right now. Any new guidance from CDC around masks is likely to just be too complicated for theme parks (how far away are you, how much time are you in their vicinity, how many family units). Easier to just blanket require masks, but reduce distance.

That's a deal I'll gladly make for more things opening, later hours, entertainment returning.... 🤞🤞🤞
