News Round Up 2020

I've gone into movie theaters JUST to get popcorn. Like walk in, get popcorn, walk out. Many times. Lol
I’ve now heard of so many people doing this since COVID, I had never even known this was a thing lol. I would think the popcorn would be cold by the time you get it home and to me there’s little worse than cold popcorn. But that could also be because for me the closest theater is a 30 minute drive with tons of traffic and lights. Even when I lived on Long Island, the closest theater was a good 20+ minutes away. But, if I had a closer theater I could totally see doing this, if I could get it home warm!

B&B Theaters here had announced they were doing concessions pick up when the theaters were closed to help support them and their employees. Whether a lot of people did it or not I'm not sure. But I was mighty tempted. We aren't close to the B&B Theaters locations in the area unless we were going to my mom's house or my father-in-law's house both of which are within 10mins of a particular B&B Theater location but I still thought it was nice they were offering that :)

I could see doing something like that - especially if offered at a discounted price.

But I just can't see driving 20+min to pay $20 for a popcorn .... but if other people are enjoying it than good for them!

Most places are discounted - the Cinemark chain has had large popcorn at $5 since reopen...my local cheap-o has dropped large popcorn to $3...both can be picked up (I've gotten some from my cheap-o b/c it's closer and b/c it's independent and the owner has always done great things for the community)...

And now he has a lawyer. Was kind of hoping it would be Jennifer Walters to set up for her D+ show, but Matt Murdock makes more sense. They wasted no time with that Netflix deal expiring.

I see a lot of “This movie is too crowded, it’s going to be as bad as Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. The producer of this movie was at the head of Infinity War and Endgame, I think I trust them being able to juggle a big cast.

not sure I fully understand what changed, even from the example provided, but maybe this helps out others

My impression was that they would not allow you to buy a ticket if there were not enough park pass days open for you to book during the time span that the ticket would be valid. The example used a three day ticket that is valid for four days, and at least three of those four days were open for booking park passes. My impression was that if only two out of those four days were open for booking park passes, they would not allow you to buy that three day ticket covering those specific 4 days.

I will say that I would feel that way if it weren't an MCU movie. I honestly had doubts that Avengers was going to pull it off originally as no previous superhero team movie really had. They did, and then continued to do so again and again with ever-growing casts. Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios folks can absolutely handle it.

I am much more excited about Charlie as Daredevil than I am about any of the previous Spider-Men.

Uh oh .. wasn't there another movie named Spider Man 3 that was horrible for this EXACT same problem? Too many heroes and villains and thus too many storylines?

But .. Marvel has been able to handle multiple characters well in the Avengers movies -- hopefully this won't be the same disaster as the original Spiderman 3.

I read it as before if you had a 3 day ticket that was valid across 4 days and if any of those 4 days was full then they wouldn't let you get the ticket - now they will as long as there are enough days to use up your tickets. So if only 1 of the 4 days is full you are ok but if 2 of the 4 days is full then it still won't ... but like I said, I was getting confused

To be fair to the other Spider-Man 3, it wasn’t because there were too many villains, it was that they were used poorly. Throwing Venom in where he wasn’t the main focus was a huge mistake. There’s a whole lot more trust with the current team than there was back then

I guess this means they are optimistic about the coming year where they expect more days to hit capacity, thus causing this issue?
I am confused about the policy as well.

This was my biggest disappointment when our theatres closed again about a month ago due to lack of attendance. I'd gone about 5 times to purchase popcorn and had never stepped inside a theatre to see a movie! When they're open, our local movie theatres are connected with Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes so it looks like we're not the only ones who enjoy their popcorn!

Yes, we’ll have to wait to see it “in action” to find out!

Two things: 1. I know someone that went in and used all their Regal Gift cards this summer when they announced the re-closure by buying popcorn and candy for her whole office! Who knows if they'll ever be back open, so she spent them while she could!

2. One of my favorite memories of staying at my Grandma's as a kid is going to the mall near her house (about 10 minutes away). We would get Chick-fil-A (when they were only in malls and only had sandwiches), ride the carousel, and get a large popcorn from the movies to take back home with us!

I don't hate Spidey 3 like a lot of people do, but adding Venom was a mistake. The Sandman story was so well fleshed out with a nuanced and sympathetic story arc. Venom just horned in and screwed it all up. I know the studio insisted because Venom is a popular character but they should've just let Raimi do his thing.
