News Round Up 2020

ugh, now I'm depressed. Didn't know that. Any chance it'll be at DL at least?
Martin said on WDWMagic that Epcot had the choice to put this or Remy into the France pavilion and chose Remy. The fact that it was offered I assume allows some hope that it may be shared in the future. But personally I hope the base the next great dark ride at WDW on something a little more recent.

Following up on this, it was actually a significant refurb, White Lightning now has the first GCI steel track (albeit not on the entire ride). This is GCI’s response to RMC’s successful IBOX track, so potentially huge for the industry. Fun Spot’s White Lightning has previously been used as a test subject for GCI to try out new products.

Test footage of the new track:
Boo to anything that takes more real Woodies out of service :(. I still miss the real Texas Giant.

I'm not even going to watch because I'll be annoyed that WDW won't get this and I don't see myself going overseas anytime soon.

I will not be watching it. Really hoping to get there in 2022 (as I spit on the floor at Covid).

Not me, I’d rather see rides for all the amazing Renaissance movies. But I think it would be quite some time before a ride like BatB would be built at WDW.

Moderately strong Universal rumor:

The 2 horror nights house test over the weekend went extremely well, and tomorrow they will announce a name for the mini event, and open up a few more houses starting this weekend (Originals only). Universal hotels were booked solid the past few weekends, so there's a strong chance they may reopen one of the closed hotels soon and that also may also be announced tomorrow. Again all just rumors.

Still they they should build the originally planned boat ride in the German pavilion but theme it to Tangled using this BatB level technology

I am impressed with the sets and the animatronics the ride itself does nothing for me. The ride system has been done to death at Disney. From Ratatouille, Rise and now this, to me it all feels the same.

IMO that's a big no. The last thing World Showcase needs is more IP. IMO what it needs is to go back and finish putting in the original attractions that were planned.

So I had not planned on anything disney this year but of course I can't stop myself and we really need a break here. But this always concerns me of course. We know how to make the best of it but I am now gonna plan 2 DHS days just in case. That's always been the problem child park for me, I love it but its just too small. I guess I better research how the star wars stuff works now, huh?

One of our two days there ROTR was down most of the day we heard. No one in our group got a boarding group on that rainy Saturday. But is wasn't all doom and gloom. We went to AK on a weekday and walked on FOP first thing, waited 10 minutes for NRJ, waited 5 minutes for the safari, rode EE 3 times in 35 minutes and rode Dinosaur (DS9s favorite) 6 times in a row, then went back and rode FOP 2 more times with 5 minute waits.

Perception really is quite an interesting thing. We were in HS that same day. Several attractions got down to 15-20 minute waits throughout the day. We got our boarding pass for RoR, rode MMRR three times, Slinky Dog twice, Midway Mania three times, Alien Saucers twice, and Star tours several times. We did skip Rockin Rollercoaster and ToT simply because my nine year old is not a fan, but definitely could have fit them in if wanted.

I am not sure what in my post was perception. The line for MFSR started in Toy Story land. We waited for Muppets and it was not quite 35 minutes but close. We waited 30 for Star Tours. 2 of us walked on TSMM as our first ride while the other two waited 35 minutes for RNRC 2 minutes after opening. Two of us waited 25 minutes for AS2. We waited in the line for MFSR for just under an hour.

I think that ship has sailed - anything new is going to have IP. I'd rather they do it right, where it fits, where it helps attract people to come into the pavilions and discover more about the countries than just crammed in where it doesn't fit

I'm all for rides with or without IP in World Showcase. As a non-foodie who doesn't drink, World Showcase just doesn't entice us. It's neat to see every few trips, but the long walk with Disney-tired feet often isn't worth it to our family, no matter how much we love the baguettes in France. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but with APs only able to book 3 park days right now, EPCOT is our easy skip, especially without characters. But opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one! :rainbow:
