That looks pretty cool!
During what should’ve been the first day of Star Wars Celebration.
Perhaps they could revive the Express Transportation option and tie it in with that. Go to the Express Transportation area, tell the CM which park you want to go to next, they make the park reservation for you and put you on the park-to-park bus. This would have the advantage (for Disney) of letting them know you're leaving the current park then. That lets them control crowds better than letting people use MDE to book another park for some indefinite time later in the day.Might help if there was one exit lane at each park for hoppers to use with dedicated wifi tunnel where you walked out and were able to do it right then......
Too many issues for that to work. What about those that want to go back to the resort for a bit but head to a different park at night? Or people that take different forms of transportation to parks?Perhaps they could revive the Express Transportation option and tie it in with that. I was thinking the other way - how it could let them charge more for certain days, even day of
"Oh, we thought MK today would be a 7 on the crowd calendar but turns out it is a 9 so if you want to enter today it will be an extra $20 ... But Epcot is looking like the 6 we thought it would be so no upcharge there"
Yes! Thank you.
Especially when you have 3 young kids with you. Not that fun to be looking at your phone. You miss too much of the actual experience of being there.
I'm all for getting rid of the phones. I know it ages me but I'd be more than happy with paper FP's and playing I spy......
I dunno, looking at my phone for a few minutes to refresh for a new fastpass is better than waiting on line for 30-40 minutes with three kids and a sweaty tired wife.
I dunno why some people still think this isn’t going to happen eventually. This wasn’t a D23 announcement that only gets pickup in the trade press and Orlando Sentinel. This was them shouting loudly to media across the globe that they were correcting a moral failure of their own making. Doesn’t matter if people agree, that’s how it was framed by Disney, so now they’re accountable to fixing the thing that they themselves declared a moral failure. It was announced during the pandemic so the pandemic doesn’t make sense as a reason to cancel it.This maybe blows holes in the theory that they just announced the re-theme for a timely political statement. I guess this still MAY move forward -- or maybe just hitting the low-hanging fruit to continue to show progress?
Still seems pretty crazy they are going to spend money on a re-theme of a perfectly good and popular ride during these economic down times.
Why scrubbing the music is felt as necessary right now (while the attraction is still in operation) is just weird .. I would bet that a vast majority of people don't even tie that song to "Song of the South" until all this news makes people aware of it. Like a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Admittedly there are issues, but if we follow Tigger's idea of a special park exit area, I think combining it with park-to-park buses that let you bypass the security and park admission lines in the second park would be nice. Not everyone would have to choose to get on those buses. Others could exit the area and go to the parking lot or the resort bus area.Too many issues for that to work. oh wait - they tried that for a short time - for a fee..........Admittedly there are issues, but if we follow Tigger's idea of a special park exit area, I think combining it with park-to-park buses that let you bypass the security and park admission lines in the second park would be nice. I guess I could see it both ways (being built many years from now .. or just fading away and forgotten (like the Main Street theatre project) .. I was just saying that starting to ditch the music is a good sign it won't just fade away.I dunno why some people still think this isn’t going to happen eventually. It’s happening. Maybe not for three or four years, but it’s happening.
They don’t want to make is sound like they did something wrong. The timing of the announcement certainly was for reasons related to the current state of the world.I guess I could see it both ways (being built many years from now .. or just fading away and forgotten (like the Main Street theatre project) .. I just disagree they are going to be held accountable to it morally. Money always takes priority in a company this large. In the press releases (like the Disney Parks Blog post), Disney didn't really say the reason they were retheming it was because of the moral failings of Song of the South .. but because of just "plussing" an older attraction with a more relevant movie like Princess and the Frog in the parks and adding some diversity to the parks with an attraction around a "modern, courageous and empowered woman". They spun it to make it sound like they are just adding a modern princess to an attraction like they re-themed the Maelstrom. Never did they say they were re-theming it because of the source material. (even though us Disneyphiles know that is why)
If they are willing to do this type of set (at this price) for the NBA (which arguably isn't the target demographic for most Disney fans), I would guess we could see more limited edition Magic Band "sets" coming? Disney collectors would probably go nuts over them --- especially if they are "limited"News
