News Round Up 2020

What a weird idea. I don't think Americans need a tax incentive to go on vacation. And frankly I don't think most Americans are going to book a vacation for a "tax credit".

Either people are going to risk going on vacation or they are not -- based on their own comfort with that risk. The problem now isn't really money -- it's the inconsistency of what's open or not and the various restrictions that make it inconvenient or not worth the money spent (like going to a theme park, having stuff closed, and having to wear a mask in hot/humid weather).

I mean .. once the beaches opened up here . people are flocking to them, though I doubt a lot of it is out-of-state tourists yet . .because there are no restrictions .. it's "normal".

I think it is just touristy stuff are taking such a hit it is to promote people spending money in those areas - and give even more incentive to those that are comfortable to travel to do so and maybe spend a little extra $ when they do so

I can understand that it's an attempt at re-igniting the travel industry, but it's pretty misguided IMO. Basically, it's just giving a tax break to those fortunate enough to be financially unaffected by COVID, which are people that very likely would have gone on vacation once its safe or "worth it" anyways.

I agree - but it hasn't been enacted yet, so who knows whether it will happen or what the details will be.
