News Round Up 2020

Was their previously a chairman of D2C and International?

Can I be the President of Walt Disney World now?
I dunno, are you going to require masks? ha ha ha
Seriously though, what does this mean for Disney, I take it Josh D'Amaro is well liked? The article certainly seemed to give him high praise.

part of me thinks this is great but the other part of me (that travels to WDW) wishes that he was focused on just WDW for a longer period of time
This is my concern, too. I feel like it's really important to have someone who truly cares as local leadership as well - I worry that refurbishment, guest experience, etc. are heavily influenced by each respective leader, not just the president of the department.

Will be interesting to see how things go now with Jeff Vahle as new President of WDW given he was formerly President, Disney Signature Experiences (which I guess is Aulani, ABD, DVC, and Cruiseline .... so that could be good as all those things provide really good services but also are more expensive so seems like it would position WDW to continue to evolve around those types of park guests not the "regular folk"

Pretty big promotion for Campbell, but it is a tough spot. Mayer got out at the right time. Growth is going to become harder and D+ leaves much to be desired when it comes to the their volume of new content. The toughest parts of that job are coming up. If she does well she will be really well positioned going forward.

She’s not just disney+ though, she is involved in Hulu and all Disney direct to consumer. Disney our all their eggs in the basket with those streaming services so disney certainly wants success there.

I wonder if these promotions were always in the works for now, or if they were accelerated.
Well I’m sure Kevin Mayer didn’t want to stick around after getting passed over for CEO so he likely lined up a new job ASAP. They had the parks role empty since Chapek took over and didn’t seem to move fact to fill it. The others are just shuffling around pretty much.

This is the most detailed, thorough guideline I've seen posted so far...

Huh that is interesting. I found the official IAAPA page with the guidelines (https://www.iaapa.org/reopening-guidance-considerations-attractions-industry) and I think the thing to note is that these are considerations/guidelines and not requirements. Some venues may choose to do more or less.

I didn't read the whole thing since it's 36 pages, but it's definitely good insight on what might be required when the actual parks open. I think it's interesting that they recommend against temperature checks as the primary health screening, which I totally agree with. I have to get my temp checked when I go into work each day and it consistently reads 95. If that were accurate I should be experiencing onset hypothermia each morning.

require clear bags for touchless inspection......so much of this is starting to feel like $$$
Seeing as how the vast majority of the bags Disney sells aren't clear, I don't see that being a recommendation they choose to follow. You can sell a lot more bags that people can use all the time than bags they will only use for certain venues.
