News Round Up 2016

Why does it matter if I've seen it or not. AK is my favorite park and it keeps getting better in my opinion.

I just don't want this thread to be an endless discussion and then have the links that I and other post get lost.

If you don't like it don't post here.

You're not following your own self decreed rules...that is pretty evident.

But you're right that you don't need me.

I know you like animal kingdom...that's not an issue. It's also not a basis for a conclusion that what is going on there now or over the next year without seeing it is "good". Sorry, it's just not.

There are no rules for this thread or than the General disboards rules. I also love discussion when it's good. There just comes a point where either it should be ended or moved to a dedicated thread. I do appreciate your posting I really do. I just feel that maybe you're not understanding the point of this thread.

At 421 pages? No. I don't understand it.

I also didn't understand the "lets keep it down" on page 419 (or whatever) after "I got my reservations!!!" On 416 (or whatever)

I'm nitpicking...but here's my nitpicking goal: lighten up. Let them type.

My opinion, not that it matters, on this whole "news/not news" line of discussion, is that there is room for all to have opinions on what is and is not important to them. One person's viewpoint is not necessarily the viewpoint of everyone. Does this thread get off on a tangent every now and then? Sure. But for any one poster to continually spew negativity about anything that is not within his or her own likes or viewpoint gets very tiresome, and begs the question of why anyone with that much disagreement wants to be on this thread. Perhaps a thread of their own where they can discuss anything they feel IS important, would be the next logical step.

I think Ryan, and others, do a great job of bringing in all sorts of interesting "news" items, and whether or not they are any one person's "cup of tea" is not the issue. If you are interested, you join in the discussion. If not, just move on. And yes, some things go on and on and on, but that is no where near as irritating as constant criticism and negativity for anything that one person doesn't like.

Just my opinion.

This says very nicely what I have been trying to figure out how to say. But I could not find a nice way to say it.

It is one thing to be negative and complain about everything Disney does. I don't like it when posters do that, but I can at least grasp why that person/persons would participate in the thread/message board. What I do not understand at all is why you would constantly mock and heckle a moderator and the merit of the thread they run. If it was happening on a website I ran, I would not put up with it and frankly I'm amazed at the maturity and restraint shown by rteetz not letting it get to him. If you don't like it, quit participating. Please.

Y'all want a Kong review tomorrow once my TM friends ride? Be excellent to each other. ;)

I'm sure they can use the mechanisms more...but I bet it's just more a no lawsuit language added by legal just cause they can.
Yeah, could be, but I'm hoping for more. It's a complete new program, so why wouldn't they increase the ride along with the movie?

I think you hit the nail on the head. I made the mistake of engaging and feeding the fire before and I felt worse afterward. I have found the best thing to do is to utilize the ignore button. Click on the name of the poster you don't want to hear from and then click the ignore button. I have found it works like a charm. The negative presence on the board cleared up in seconds. Everyone has their own right to an opinion and the board is gracious enough to provide you a way to look past those that you find yourself in constant disagreement with.

I mean - are you happy with the animal kingdom rollouts??

"happy" is a relative term. I don't need to be "happy" about them until I go in October. The Jungle Book show sounds underwhelming, which I expected it to be. If Rivers of Light underwhelms as well, I will be unhappy. Right now I am indifferent. The night safari I was expecting to be hit or miss similar to the daytime one - so I think that has been a wash with expectations. The Tree of Life thing sound pretty neat. The dance parties are dance parties. Everything really depended on Rivers of Light - and that didn't happen, so if I was going this summer - I probably would not be happy.

Agree...the info leaked and Disney is trying to tone down the narrative now.

I think it's a quagmire behind the scenes...personally.

What makes this strange is the stories are all "Disney this" and "Disney that". Disney doesn't interfere in Marvel nor in Pixar. I really thought they gave Kathleen Kennedy autonomy over Lucasfilm...if it really is DISNEY that has the issue with the movie, it MAY be a true problem - especially if they are stepping in and interfering within Lucasfilm. Everyone assumes its "meddling", but what if it's just not very good. I like portions of what Gareth Edwards has done, but Godzilla was FAR from a great movie. Typically the studio doesn't step in unless there really ARE problems.

The truth is not something that's really going to come out, except some version might AFTER the fact. The hope is that the movie that comes out of all this is still good. Troubled productions have on occasion made great movies ( "Jaws", "Titanic" and "Apocalypse Now" all come to mind) but some end up disasters (last years "Fantastic Four" for example.) I'd say mostly at best the movies come out muddled mess, but anything can happen.

The possibilities are really - in order of likelyhood:
1) They make a bad movie out of what would have been a different bad movie.
2) They make a good movie out of what would have been a bad movie.
3) They ruin what would've been a good movie.
(The fourth option: Take a good movie and turn it into a different good movie is highly unlikely.)

I really enjoy this thread and appreciate everything Ryan does to keep it going. I check back daily to see what's new and to read the mostly insightful comments from everyone. There are other threads and boards for those who wish to seek attention by consistently throwing out negative comment to draw attention to themselves.

Oh dear...my point was the same as always: let the people type.

I used my own pickiness as an example...you know why? Because even though I don't particularly care about many of the tidbits...I don't want anyone squelched talking about them.

That was the point. Not "let's stick to this" while hog wild on that.

Good god...it shot straight past.

Sorry. Seacrest....OUT!!! ;)

I think Edwards made what he likes: modern sci fi with a graphic novel kinda edge to it.

Just like Abrams made what he likes: safe reboots.

One is very product friendly...one isn't. Which one does Disney like?

I stopped reading when I saw quotes that said "Disney doesn't like the feel..."

Igers feel of "feel" has been awful.

It's ok to want a safe, toy friendly reboot. I suppose. But to let an expensive, prestigious project get through at least 90% of shooting before realizing that's not what you're getting?

At this point there's really not much too the night time hours. I mean the tree thing seems well done and the Safaris have had some good reviews, but there's not much substance to it. Without Rivers of Light or Avatar in place it's just not enough to really change anything. It's not going to change anyone's mind about the park or increase the number of hours they spend there.

Marvel had until recently a buffer between their movie division and Disney in the form of Ike Perlmutter. Marvel interfered in their directors movies quite a lot, but Disney was hands off. It will be interesting to see now that Kevin Feige answer directly to Allan Horn what impact that has on studio interference.

At this point though it is entirely possible the original rumors were incredibly overblown. It's not just Disney that's denying some of them now.
