I would think since the original plans had them and all the research into the bands, including the patents put forth, I wouldn't characterize them as minor. I would think the location information and that type of info would be super valuable and they don't get that from phones...at least not mine.

The bands will hang around for people without phones. But a minor update to the app requesting NFC access and boom - your phone/watch is MDE capable.

If you want to get technical they already know your phone is there. What they don't have is that phone is you. Of course, considering your phone pings in everytime your magic band gets scanned, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to make a system that links the two together.

If you don't want to be tracked I hope you're carrying a Nokia 6110 from 15 years ago...

Iron Man sounds like an obvious choice, but considering that they have moved the Marvel characters out of Disneyland and that many rumors indicate that a Marvel land is being planned for DCA, I can see something else going in there. I do have my doubts about Star Tours surviving, anyway.

The only thing that would make Iron Man a problem is if they want to repurpose the redux in WDW. Why develop two replacements when you can develop one? More likely they use an IP that can be used in both parks.

I would certainly not mind using my phone as an ancillary MDE device, but at present, I'd prefer to have the bands as my primary means of interacting. That's entirely a personal preference though. Technically I see no reason why they can't be replaced by my phone.

Well, yeah, chances of Star Tours at DHS surviving are higher compared to DL, so it just makes sense for them to copy the new Hong Kong ride and bring it to DL while keeping the original attraction at DHS. However, if their idea is to use Marvel at DCA, having an Iron Man ride in Tomorrowland wouldn't make much sense either with the rest of the Marvel offerings going on somewhere else. If they develop a new attraction based on a different property for DL, they may as well bring it to DHS, especially if Star Wars land ends up being located nowhere near the attraction.

Wizarding World just opened to a lot of praise, and an alleged 2nd phase might be on the plans, so I can see why DL would be interested in completing SW soon.

I don't see them giving DHS star tours a re-theme, even if it's outside the main star wars area. Given cost cutting etc, seems like a real waste of money. I'm betting it's in a transition area. You also have the jedi training, which I admit would be easy to move, but why bother? The muppet courtyard is what needs to go or be re-themed. I don't see a lot of people shedding tears over that.

When I first saw the updated pre-show video in the Muppet Vision queue, my heart hurt a little. I'm all for change, but god, I just can't stand Constantine.

Even if you are your phone company can still triangulate your general location with ease. They know where we are and where we're going and have done for years.

Why wouldn't it be wise financially? If they use a Popular IP it could be a fine financial decision. It's not like there won't be Star Wars in DHS.
