News Round Up 2016

I'll just contact the pertinent Webmasters with my concerns going forward.

Ryan, I appreciate what you do here, I was just trying to help. Your "likes" betray you. ;)

I appreciate your reading of this thread. I also take your concerns seriously. I did not feel that I was just there promoting my article. I posted it and said if anyone is interested I wrote this. I didn't state it as news or a rumor.

No you're not. You're trying to manipulate to get things your way. This thread was running just fine. The regular participants had established a style that they were comfortable with and Ryan was providing lots of good updates.

My last off-topic comment...if you are going to post off-topic, then you can hardly moderate those who do so as well. It sets a bad precedent in my opinion.

Really? I believe you're taking things a little too seriously and need to lighten up a bit. His article wasn't spam, wasn't disrespectful to anyone, and was certainly more newsworthy than many other articles or statements I've seen posted on here (not that I have any problems with that as I enjoy many of them). In other words, give the guy a break and get off your soapbox.

All I'll say is that these last few postings have prompted me to learn how to "like" posts and to learn that apparently I can't "dislike" posts for some reason (I am woefully ignorant in terms of social media).

Facebook is really the website that pioneered the whole "liking" system. Their rationale is that their button system is about empathy rather than approval or disapproval.

That said, I've used their angry button more than a few times lately :).

Rteetz - I too made my first 1/2 marathon a Disney run, 12 years ago. Be careful, it becomes an addiction, and an expensive one at that. I live in Colorado so any Disney trip is an event for us, and yet we have run 4 WDW races (including a Goofy), one DL race, and many many other races around the country since then. While the WDW races are executed to perfection, I do want to share that the close proximity of everything at DL makes running out there so much easier. You don't need to catch a bus to the starting line at 3 am, you can just roll out of bed and walk a 1/2 mile to the start. Also, for those of us not on the East Coast - the time change is a little easier out West. If you ever get a chance, give one a try. My next one on the calendar is DL Star Wars - the Light Side - 2017. I can't wait!

Oh I understand the addiction. This was my second year in a row at marathon weekend and I will be back for 2017. I do hope to run one of the other events like Star Wars soon.

If you were just trying to help you could have addressed him directly with a personal message instead of calling it out on the message board for everyone to see....what you were actually doing was looking for attention...you wouldn't have called out any other moderator in such a confrontational/public way...and to suggest that you will just contact the Webmasters as opposed to directly talking with him about your concerns (through a private message) and giving him the opportunity to address your concerns before you "run to the webmasters" is also an immature and unprofessional way to handle the concerns you have.

What you might not realize is that the regular readers and contributors to this message board will back up rteetz because he does a great job at moderating and keeps us all up to date on things that are interesting and helpful on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis. I follow this thread daily when I'm planning a trip because I know it will help me stay in front of the news.

Thanks again rteetz for the great job you do with this thread....I hope the Webmasters read that :thanks:
