News Round Up 2016

Tokyo always gets the good stuff... We knew about the new parade floats and Nemo attraction but the Pirates event and Zootopia show sounds interesting.

I guessed that they would get a new Easter parade since the current one is three years old. Although I didn't think that Nick and Judy would be over there that quick (do they have Raplh and Vanellope yet?) although it was a big hit. Maybe they'll even get a M&G before us. Although, I think the last 2 seasonal parades they have done aren't really very good, although that's my opinion. I just wish WDW or MK could get seasonal shows and parades that are updated often.

Pirates is interesting, I wonder if it'll be a water show like the other summer ones?

Ugh... these changes. Seasonal rides?? They are doing their best to become Six Flags. :(

How can you complain that this ride is going seasonal. It's clearly a budget cut thing - October 2nd just happens to be the new fiscal year. They always do some sort of stupid cuts for this. Would you rather have less characters around? Perhaps close a QS restaurant during slow season? Nah - this one's just fine.

My only complaint is that it isn't closed and gutted. Maybe this is the first step.

Permanently closed Stitch > Seasonal Stitch > fully open Stitch

We're moving in the right direction.

I just don't understand why people are complaining a ride that many, many, people hate is going to be seasonal. It going seasonal is obviously proof that Disney knows it doesn't attract as man people as it needs to in order for it to be worth it to be open. Just like you said, a step in the right direction.

I did really surprise me that the parade lasted until October 9th. From a fiscal point of view I would've thought they would have shuttered it on the 1st. Not sure what the rationale is for the extra week.

i think it's that people see a generally disliked ride in the sad land of 'tomorrow' as pretty much wasted space. ideally there should put something new & awesome in that space, but i understand that if an upgrade/replacement isn't in the cards for now, they might as well not waste cast members on it.

My initial thought is that it has to do with the MNSSHP schedule. The party dates are announced pretty early in the year, and entertainment changes tend to happen fairly suddenly. That's the only weekend that has both Saturday and Sunday regular operating hours.

Plus as far as we know, the move is an inter-park politics thing rather than a budget thing. If they already had the budget earmarked for that week, it's probably easier to justify keeping it for a week into the new year.

The 10th is Columbus day - so perhaps they were hoping for an extra draw for the holiday weekend?

In a rumor link a few pages back there was a little gem tucked in there suggesting that Toy Story Land may have seen more budget cuts.

At this rate I expect a grassy field with a lone army man standing in the middle of it.
