News Round Up 2016

News

Rivers of light is doing extensive effects testing tonight that can be seen outside the park.

I'm sure it's no coincidence that Joe Rohde also happens to be at DAK today

It wouldn't surprise me if internally there is a LOT of pressure to get this show up and running. As has been mentioned by many - DAK nighttime offerings are rather thin even with the extra entertainment and the Safari. There's a good chance there's a lot of funds to keep the park open at night and they are not seeing a good return for it. Getting ROL up and running is there best hope for success until Pandora opens. Still thinking we'll see this show up and running before our trip mid-October.

i also think they need this show up and running so they can work on the logistics of the park before Pandora
but your points were valid and on point

I'm still curious as to how many shows will be offered per night (For RoL).
I've heard 2-3.

Do we know about how long the RoL show is?

I'm just gauging these thoughts on the day I will be there (October 21) if they end up showing RoL by then. On that day, the internet tells me that Orlando sunset is at 6:49pm and dusk is at 7:13pm. The park currently closes at 8:30pm that day. So that leaves about an hour of time for shows to be running and crowds to be shuffling in and out.

The show has been modified a bit since the original due to the technical problems and changes executives wanted. The original was 22 minutes or so, I don't know if that has changed since the modifications.

I know it was originally supposed to be 3 shows a night, but that was also when the park was also open until 11. They wouldn't be able to squeeze that in between 7-9 (Going strictly off of what the hours are now).

Here's to hoping they've also learned how to manage crowds on the Asia side, because that bottlenecked up fast.

More than likely in non-Holiday time, they will schedule TWO shows per night. As you mention the sunset at 6:49 PM, they could easily do one show at 7:15 PM and a second show right at 8:30 PM. (It's not uncommon for shows to start at the closing time of the park - see Illuminations every night for an example of this.)

I'm afraid at least some of money is going to some of these items next month.

I love the figment shirt/logo, but I really wish that Disney wouldn't keep using him on their Epcot merchandise while continuing to treat the Imagination Pavillion like a broken-down jalopy.

I haven't been paying great attention, but have they added midway/carnival style lighting to Dinoland? That seems like an easy way to plus a segment of the park for nighttime.

I hope this is the case! I feel like people are really under estimaing just how fantastical this world will be. I'm not a fan of the movie and, at first, I thought this was going to be so stupid, but now, I'm actually looking forward to it! Is there a chance it will be done by June 2017?

Ironically, the biggest thing Avatar land has going against it is the movie.

So many people refuse to give the land a chance because they are judging the land based on the plot of the movie.
