News Round Up 2016

It appears that in the near future, you'll need to be a D23 member in order to access the D23 website.

Must need some money

No criticism of it...it's just not for me. You don't have 46 years worth of stuff piled in your house. I need less stuff - not more, and things like pins or such would just gather dust.
Understandable. My mom has probably 50 of those old large Disney snow globes and every now and then when one does pop up online or whatever she gets it. They sit on shelves and collect dust as well.

It's free to become a general member. And it's pretty standard for news sites today to require some sort of registration to use. The alternative would be to place ads (which Disney wouldn't do) which would honestly probably generate more revenue than requiring a free registration with the option to upgrade

you really don't get much as a free member though. And I don't necessarily see the appeal to become a paid member.

Thanks crazy4wdw for bringing up this message -- I thought I was having some internet problem. I event tried logging in and that didn't work. :)

I just renewed my membership and I'm sure happy they gave me a $20 renewal discount. I remember at the end of 2014/beginning of 2015, D23 sent out a very long member survey about all the events, discounts, content, etc and I mentioned how much I loved the D23 member screenings and in-person events. And what happened? They seemingly cut almost all of the non-Burbank/Florida events! At this point, it does feel like I'm paying for the most expensive magazine subscription ever.

But I guess the Downtown Disney and Super Shuttle discounts are nice.

We just went in December for the first time. It was awesome! There's a link to my report in my sig. I would have really like to see the Imagineer presentation:( I would spend a lot of time there if I lived in the Bay Area.

Would love to visit someday. Along with Walt Disney Imagineering... Oh well, I guess I could use that star right now.

The pool talk is interesting. I learned the hard way to never get a room close to a 24 hour pool so I'm OK now with whenever they close. 9:00 PM is crazy early though.

And I am continually amazed by the look of the new Kong attraction. If anything will lure us back to Orlando earlier than expected it will be that...

D23 has been a tough sell since day 1 by all accounts...the plug will be pulled sooner or later
The only thing they do that does sell well is the expo. Members get like first dibs at tickets and the general public after that. The expo is really the only event they do I would consider attending.
