News Round Up 2016

My guess is the pool gates have a lot to do with liability and insurance rates.

Disney wouldn't do that, and I can't think of any other measures put in for safety... I mean liability/insurance:rolleyes:

This swim debate is strange - we rarely swim late in the evenings, so it probably wouldn't make a difference to me...however it does seem silly to close the pools at 9 pm. I can't imagine this will last long. I remember on a trip to Pop we were at the pool fairly late for us (Must've been around 9 PM.) and the pool was packed with people. I would think a lot of people do this, and a LOT of people would complain about it if they show up and the pool is closed. I gotta assume this one won't last long.

Based on the construction still left to go in those pictures - March seems like a real stretch.

I'm also realizing for the first time that Zootopia is essentially a Richard Scary movie.

I'm thinking April is a safe bet I don't know about March.

I'm headed there March 31-April 13, so I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that. ;-) Or that by "April" you mean April 1. :-)

Oh boy - I just can't wait to see all these construction walls in just TWO WEEKS! I will use entire memory cards full of construction wall pictures! Yippee!

Who are you kidding?

You eat this kinda stuff up with a spoon...

Be sure to wear your pin lanyard

Don't forget to post those photos here ;)

Why else would I take them?? Too bad they won't let me bring in a selfie stick to get shots OVER the wall.

I don't own any pins. (OK - I own one - a Tiki Bird pin.) I certainly buy enough Disney junk, but I don't like collecting junk just for the sake of it, and I consider pins and vinylmation and the like to be that. (Note I originally had a different word than "junk" but didn't want to be admonished by the mods again.)

Are they just working on the scenery at AK or has work on actual rides begun also?

Sure, but the rides are all indoors though. All those pictures you see people posting are from the portion of the park that's open. If you are on the Disney buses as you ride into DAK - you can see the MASSIVE show building over to the left. It's really, really huge.

Gwendoline Christie confirms Captain Phasma return in Star Wars: Episode VIII

British actor hopes mainstream success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens will encourage more women to audition for parts originally written for men

Gwendoline Christie has confirmed she will return to the role of imposing villain Captain Phasma in the forthcoming sequel to box-office record-breaker Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Speaking to People magazine at the Screen Actors Guild awards on 30 January, Christie also said she hoped her achievement in winning the part of a character originally written for a man would encourage greater diversity in Hollywood.

For me...it's not about gates affecting views...it's that I think you should have 24 hour access. You pay enough.

+100...Those pools should all be open til midnight. I mean, that's pretty much the minimum at all other hotel/condo sites in Orlando...

+...1000...I guess?

This is a big pet peeve of mine. All pools should mostly be open 24/7 (maybe not in Dec/Jan/Feb). I can understand a closure for a couple of hours in the middle of the night for cleaning/maintenance. However, other than that they should be available to guests at all times. The #1 time of day I'm interested in using the pools or a hot tub is late at night after returning from one of the parks. They have been gradually closing pools earlier in all resorts (and on the cruise ships too - which is even more egregious) for a couple of years now.

I have some pins but I will admit I am a vinylmation collector. I have probably over 50.
