News Round Up 2016

Another head-scratcher. So now everyone has to take 2 buses to go from their resort to BB or TL and then again back to the resort? I understand that there are times when there's very little people going to the water parks. So making that stop before heading to AK or Disney Springs is annoying to those going continuing on to AK or DS. However, they could have come up with better solutions than this.

Actually as I think about it, I wonder if it's a step further to discourage people from using the water parks for "Free Parking". The only other thing is as you mention - maybe customer complaints about the extra stop at the water parks when going to the park on the DAK bus?

I don't know if any of the rest of you ordered one of these, but the 2XL is sized more like a 3XL. I'm 6' 2" tall with broad shoulders and a dad belly and this thing is still big on me. Just FYI.

Another thing is...so now does this mean that when leaving the water parks, there will only be one bus line (for essentially, a shuttle to either AK or DS) for everyone? You could have a 1000 or more people in line in front of you if you leave at closing.

Yup - that's exactly right - I would assume they will run multiple buses at closing, but again it doesn't really make sense from a cost standpoint. Have to run MORE buses, not less.

Fun movie fact(s) of the day:

Jungle Book had its first sub-$1M day yesterday - Day 41 of release (Domestic). Star Wars TFA had its first sub-$1M day on Day 46. Jungle Book has had tremendous staying power.

Along those lines - Jungle Book is $9M worldwide between Superman v Batman and tracking higher each day. It is very possible that after this weekend or early next week Jungle Book passes SvB for #3 worldwide release this year - giving Disney the Top 3 earning movies in 2016 (to date).

Disney has had a phenomenal year so far in terms of movie releases. If only the same could be said for the parks.

Disney has had a phenomenal year so far in terms of theme parks.

(Its on the Internet... it doesn't have to be true. ;))

Has this been posted already? These are some highlights from the Jungle Book show at AK. In my opinion, they clearly had more than just a couple of weeks to make it work. They probably knew RoL wouldn't be ready on time quite a while ago.

I don't know about that. Its not that complex - if you had the performers queued up and you shift - 3+ weeks is plenty of time to get a new performance put together. The video and music is equally easy.

The "tell" is in the details. Are the floats and costumes "Jungle Book" or just representative. The video above is what you would call representative. The floats are representative and not specific to the show. The floats and costumes take longer than rehearsing - so when you have specific floats and costumes you know it was planned in advance.

Likewise with the video and music. Is it clips from the movies? Are there hard transitions or unique "mixes" that handle the transitions? Hard transitions and lifted clips are easy. The "tell" in this area is unique clips and music and smoothed transitions - again - those are harder.

Everything I see in the clip above is generic and standard and easily could have been put together in the weeks since the delay.

@Budshark comments are right on my thoughts - I don't mind at all that I won't get to see the Jungle Book show, and still hope it is gone and Rivers of Light is in place. I figure any aspects that are nifty enough will be part of Rivers of Light, and the things that are shoe-horned Jungle Book will be video screens and maybe a performance or two, but anything spectacular will carry over to ROL.

It's not that it's anything spectacular you cannot do in a couple of weeks, but making something that is somewhat appealing and it's safe to your employees (and that hopefully will float) can take more than just a few weeks, especially in a company where lots of paperwork has to be filled to change a doorknob (part of the reasons behind Imagineering's massive budgets). In addition to that you have to find the right performers, and the entertainment sector can be quite tricky.

Maybe you're right, though. Can't say I know much about how their blueprint works like.

AK parking lot is filling up and is expected to be at or near capacity tonight. Jungle Book: Alive with Magic soft opens tonight and guest were allowed to start lining up at 7. They have done so and lines go through Dino-land.

WDWNT quick review from their Twitter:

Jungle Book: Alive with Magic is bad. Rushed, uncreative, should not be marketed as a nighttime show. It is culturally beautiful at moments, but just makes you feel cheated as a nighttime show. As daytime atmosphere, it would be fine. If you invest more than 5 minutes waiting for this, you made a terrible mistake.
