News Round Up 2016

I understand. I also agree with you on the shops even though I never got to experience the old shops.

The shop problem is property wide

Which is why I Have been largely SUPPORTIVE of Disney springs...

I'll take Lilly Pulitzer, Tommy bahama, Oakley, anthropologie...
...I can't take pathetic offerings like days of Christmas and the tshirt factory anymore...enough!!!

I joined this thread to learn about what is happening in Disney, what is being closed for refurbishment , new attractions , new restaurants, etc . Of course I wish I could still get the DDP for $36 but I am realistic , that is never going to be seen again. I like the getting of the Refillable mugs when you buy the DDP, even though I was one who would reuse last years before !! I go every year with a group of Intelectually Disabled folks and we always have the DDP , as an escort my trip if free, so I don't see the increase in costs . When I go alone unless it is FREE dining I go oop and we split meals etc . I am not sure why people are arguing , but I think we should be talking about what is happening , what future plans are . Lets play nice in the sand box!!

I can agree with Tshirt factory but why do you dislike Days of Christmas? If you are going to say the selection has gotten stale then I can somewhat agree on that point........

That's an excellent perspective...food for thought to say the least.

The answer right now is that none of us know what's happening. The offer has been trending down for about 4 years...it was the child of the housing/credit crash and accordingly has diminished as memories fade and free spending goes up.

My caution had always been to those that regard it as a guarantee/right and didn't see it as a discount out of need...which is what it always was. People have too high expectations and too little control of the wants/expectations - generally speaking.

Wdw is ground zero for that.

Wow...that's the biggest hanging curve, middle in...to me.

Days of Christmas is PATHETIC for about 10 years.

It used to be the best...a destination unto itself. Wall to wall stuff and a lot of non "every store", disneystore.com, Walmart seasonal section, things...

It's just sad. If pucks wasn't attached to it - i'd set up a protest/picket line around it.

I can't disagree on selection. I still love the store but I would like to see more for sure

To me it's doesn't offer anything unique. I love Christmas ornaments but that's all it is and most of the stuff you can get there you can also get in the parks. I would just want a better selection.

I mean...it's 1/2 empty now...they just don't ship enough to put in there.

It's the most glaring example of for a place that LOVES merchandise (and lb for lb...there isn't a place on earth where merchandise is more important) - Disney has ruined the merchandise at parks.

It's honestly a relief and disappointing at the same time.

That's the problem I have with a lot of the stores. There is nothing unique anymore. It's all stuff you can find all over WDW. That used to not be the case.

I think I have noticed the drop in unique selection in the past 3 years more than anything in terms of the Christmas store. To be fair, I've only been going to WDW for the past 10 years though.

Why is the crane still there? What on Earth are they removing/placing on the castle?

disney putting in new stadium at AK is only going to be 5000 seats, I dont think that is enough, Fantasmic has 6900

Food and wine..... remembering...... not often those two are in the same sentence.

Uhg, I don't want to remember food and wine! I dragged my child through that misery last year and by the end of it we were both in tears. DH trying to save the day was pulling out the wallet on the way out and springing for a $$$ princess dress and a Dooney purse :sad2:...never again (seems to be my new motto with a lot of Disney's 'offerings' lately) Ah! I see the strategy now, pump you up for your trip and then delivery so poorly on experience you spend more to try and get something out of your trip.
