News Round Up 2016

I vaguely remember the speculation on this, but I can't for the life of me remember why.
Noise?
Pyrotechnics?

I'd personally be thrilled to have access to Everest in the dark while xx% of the park guests are sitting down for a show.
Screaming on the ride can be heard from the seating areas distracting from the show.

That's a rather narrow view. Cuts that affect customers for example should be viewed negatively.

Can't please everyone. Not looking to have a debate over this but all companies make cuts that affect customers, some more visible than others. The narrow view you speak of is kinda the point I'm making - you can't just look at cuts and assume the worst. We all have things we loved as consumers that have fallen victim to budget/cost cutting ax. It should not all be viewed negatively - that would be a narrow view IMO.

Anyway, dropping out of this as I come to this board for other reasons. Just wanted to point out that just because cuts are being made doesn't necessarily mean there is financial trouble.

I heard these will be given out during the show, but can't confirm.

I would imagine tier 1.

Well, I guess it might be a while before we ride then. I am not willing to give up a tier 1 FP+ from Soarin' for Froway, especially since we do TT at RD. Although, TT kind of blows. I guess if you do Soarin' at RD and then do FP+ for Froway, which I am thinking will blow, like the cold northern wind, too:)

We are probably looking at what shows at 9 10 and 11 at least in the summer months.

That's gonna be tight. If, as you mentioned earlier, it is approx a 22-minute show...that means you start moving crowds out of the first show (9pm - it needs to be dark out for this, right?) around 9:25. It could easily take 15-20 minutes to get everyone out. That only leaves another 15-20 minutes to get the new crowd in and settled before starting the next show. However, if you wanted to stretch it out further to say 10:15 & 11:30 for the subsequent shows...I can't imagine them keeping AK open that late every night. BTW...what is the rumored capacity for the show?

Between 5-6 thousand.

Soarin 2 and Froway should open up FP+ for Soarin and TT I would assume. Prob a bit on SB as well.

I think Froway will be Tier 1, and Soarin' will remain Tier 1. TT may move to Tier 2 though. In any case, I hate having to decide between Soarin', which is completely awesome, and Froway, which probably blows. If it weren't for DS, we probably wouldn't bother with Froway. However, Soarin' is his favorite. Stupid decisions:sad2:

I'm one of the lemmings who uses the wishes fp. Then again, I've never been told to stand by cms. It is quite nice to be able to sprawl on the ground and get off my tired feet on day 9 of the trip while everyone else is packed in like sardines standing outside the fence.

Poor lemmings always get a bad shake. They weren't really that dumb.

LOL we did fp for the FoF parade in December 2014. It was great. The characters really interacted with my daughter and we had a front row seat without any creepers trying push in. We didn't do FP for our last trip. Had to save a spot 30 minutes in advance and nicely tell the creepers who tried to shove in last minute to buzz off!

AGREED! I never understood why people would want to waste a Fastpass on something you can watch from, basically, ANYWHERE in the park. It's silly. I can't believe people are actually using it!

I've used FP+ for fireworks AND parades, and would do so again if available. I like the guaranteed spot without time spent to save it, and the literal physical space I get without as many guests crowding in around me. It just makes my experience more enjoyable, and to me it's worth it. If that makes me a silly lemming who loves wasting fast passes, so be it.

Yea I get that-I just meant "availability" of Soarin FP+ and TT FP+ as many will select Froway.

As comparison - World of Color - which holds a similar load of people, can host shows about an hour apart. I think an hour will be doable (one at 9 one at 10 for example) The question is where will they be able to hold the guests queuing up for the 2nd show - probably the path to DINOLAND?

You are far from alone. I have said many times WDW is not all about rides (esp thrill rides) to millions of visitors.

Not all, but many elderly, very young, parents watching kids, handicapped, motion sickness, vertigo, slower paced, personal preferences all contribute.

We like thrill rides and headliners, but would choose Wishes, Fantasmic, Illuminations, ROL, FOTLK, Nemo, parades, fireworks etc well before rides, so its easy for us to see why folks would make those choices. As well as why Disney keeps adding/continuing those types of attractions.

Do not let folks try to diminish others because they do not tour like they do. I have no problem with you defending it.

Is WOC also in the 20-25 minute range?

I am really excited for Soarin and Frozen!! We are going at the end of june and I'm crossing fingers they are open. What worries me is the availability of fast passes. If there is no stand by for Frozen then I have to get a FP+. I have never done FP+ and am worried they will be all gone. You would think Frozen Ever After and Meet and Greet would be Tier 1 with Soarin and TT would go to Tier 2 but at this point, who knows. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

If there were actual plans for a second gate in Hong Kong, this will probably put them on hold for a while. Hopefully Shanghai won't have a massive effect on Hong Kong.
Which is a shame, because it's exactly what Hong Kong needs to counteract the effects of the other competitors.

We've seen this over and over. When times are hardest, you should be building not sitting around. That's how to make things worse.
