From WebSite:

Currently, we are monitoring Hurricane Frances very closely. At this time, it is probable that the storm will impact air travel into the Central Florida area through Sunday. Given this information, we have decided to modify the Disney Magic sailing scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 4th and the Disney Wonder sailing scheduled to depart on September 5th.

The Disney Magic will now sail on Monday, September 6th on a 5-night voyage and the Disney Wonder will also sail on Monday, September 6th on a 3-night voyage. Both ships are scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral.

Guests sailing on one of these voyages are currently being contacted by our Reservations staff.

Obviously they will have to use another terminal on Monday in addition to the DCL terminal. I wonder which one they'll use and which ship will use it.

Wow...folks onboard now have an extended cruise!!!!

I am going to delete my duplicate thread on the announcement...no sense in having more than one thread.

MJ

And I guess those on the Magic 7-day will now have a 9-day and those on the Wonder 3-day will get a 4-day! Where will they hang out until Monday?

Isn't the terminal Carnival use the closest....I remember when we sailed in FEb of this year the Carnival ship was at the terminal right next to us and another ship was at the terminal across the water.

It will neat to have them both in port at the same time!!!

MJ

Glad a decision has been made. Now we can focus on dealing with Frances. Thanks for the inof. We haven't been called yet, I am sure they will get to us at some point. At least we'll get a 3 day instead of a no-day... (Thinking positive here now):)

Just wondering... where are people boarding the Wonder today. Is the port closing at 2 pm?

I am not sure how extended the cruises that are out will be....I looked at the Canaveral Web Cam this morning about 8 or so and one of the ships was sitting at the terminal...not sure which one but it was one of them so I am assuming that they disembarked while they were there, maybe it's just CM's on board that one right now

BELLE16127,
That should have been the "Wonder". I just wonder if anyone did get to board her.

Not sure....but if the Airport is open and the port is open (closes Friday) then why would today's sailing not go on as planned and just be a longer one....or has it been announced that today's sailing is off???

MJ

How are the supplies on the Magic, considering they will be at sea for two additional unplanned days?

supplies should not be too much of a problem....DCL always keeps a few days extra supplies for emergencies.....we were told this on the Galley Tour.

MJ

On one of the other threads about the hurricane and sailings, it was mentioned that the ship carries enough food/supplies for a few more days at sea. So they should be fine.

This will certainly be a rare photo opportunity for some with BOTH Ships in Port at the same time.

A bright spot in all this mess.

I talked to a CM at DCL a little while ago and was told that the "Wonder" will sail out from PC today as soon as everyone one has boarded. When I look at the cam I don't see the "Wonder" but maybe the cam is turn away from the ship.
Plus th CM told me they would just go out to sea for the cruise. I did see this on one of the other threads so they still have time to load and pull out.
The evacuation of the Canaveral Harbor must be completed and all vessels must be out of the Harbor no later than 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 3rd at which time the harbor will be closed.

The Captain is going to earn his pay on this cruise (Wonder 9/2).
When he leaves PC, I would guess he's going to make a run for the Western Carribbean. But what if Frances makes a dip to the south? Would he do an a reverse of course and head up the east coast?
This is one cruise I hope people post they're trip reports.
Will they go to any port or will it be 3, maybe 5 days at Sea?
What kind of customer service things did Disney provide onboard?

So far I heard they have given each stateroom $300 onboard credit. There will be lots of drinking going on!!!!

It will interesting to see where they go. Even just sailing around looks tough. From the looks of the weather maps the hurricane has blanketed the entire Bahamas. I'm picturing 2,000 people paddling with their hands to get the boat to go faster! There should be some mighty interesting trip reports next week.

Schedules for the cruise ships are subject to change based on the movement of the hurricane. Cruise passengers should stay in constant contact with the cruise lines.

Above is from Port Canaveral Port Authority site. I thought it was funny..."constant contact". Bet the operators at the cruise lines would LOVE that!
