News from the BWV annual meeting - Dining plan

I am certainly glad DVC people now have additional options for dining, a plan for everyone's tastes so far as I can see. Personally, I have yet to see ANY perk, program or "freebie" that hasn't resulted in WDW getting more of my money. Mind you, this isn't a complaint, just an observation. They wouldn't be offering this perk if they hadn't done their homework and figured out that, in the long run, they will make money on the program.

Enjoy those perks!

With one exception for us, the AP discount...we would've bought AP anyway, since our number of park days justify it.

See, I rationalize our AP's the same way. But then I find myself scheduling more trips as hey, I got all these AP's that I need to use. And while on all of these extra trips I had to get the DDE card as the savings on beer alone at the Rose & Crown will cover the $50 but hat led to one very expensive evening at the Yachtsmen Steakhouse because we could use the DDE.......where does the madness end I ask!!!!! :confused3

and I can see how -- we have a quick bite to eat in our DVC accomodation and always snacks/drinks and have one main sit down. I am so full after that one main meal---I do not see how some ppl can eat 1 snack, 1 CS, and 1 sit down every day!!

I still like the DDE card --

Same with our family. One of the main reasons we love DVC is to have our light breakfast in our room when we want it, not a the standard "breakfast" time set by restaurants. And then as you we have one meal out. If we are in the park that day and really busy our main meal might be Counter Service or off property.

So I am glad if it benefits others but it does not fit our vacation style and hope they don't do away with the DDE.

Well hopefully everyone realizes that. The Dining plan would not be offered to anyone, including DVC if Disney was not going to make money off of it. They are not a charity. ;)

They're not a charity? Boy, if they could pull that one think of the taxes they could avoid paying!

I think this will work well for us DS is 9 next trip and we had planned quite a few character meals before he becomes an "adult" - off to read all about the dining plan and how it works

Can anyone share if the "Magic Your Way" dining is any better deal than the "Disney Dining Experience"?? :confused3

Pros...cons... :confused3

Is the difference that MYW includes counter services too?? :confused3

I'd really be interested in this as well - perhaps we could start a seperate thread???

So, tax is not included in the $37.99 & $10.99? Would it be an additional 6.5% for tax or would it be higher?

This is good news, but we'll have to compare. We used DDE last month on our trip, and it worked out well because we did 2 TS a day on several days. Our next trip will be with my Sis and her family which includes 2 kids. The DP might work out better for that. The kids are more likely to do CS for lunch, whereas we only do 1 or 2 CS during a whole trip.

It would be great if we still have the option of BOTH a DP and the DDE. That would pretty much cover all bases.

I just found my dining review from August. We used both the dining credits and the DDE card. The DDE card paid for itself on free valet parking alone!

I hope this helps answer some questions on the use of both meal discounts.

I guess I need to get myself squared away on some of the DDE card perks. We get free valet parking???? Is that at all resorts?

There is no reason to believe we won't. Remember, the DP will be thru DVC, while DDE is payed for ($50)seperately by with a discount by being a AP holder.

Can I use this Dining Plan at Chef Mickey's or the Biergarten in Epcot? If I get this right, I can use at almost any sitdown restaurant (which ones are excluded?).

Do the credit expire each night? I mean if I dont go anywhere one day, do those points roll over to the next day, or do they need to be used everyday?

Here's the link to the brochure.

Credits do not expire nightly, you have them for the length of your stay so you can use 2 CS's one day and no TS or however works best withyour plans,

When we paid for the plan last Febryaru, it was a flat addition of $35 onto the cost of room & tix already calculated w/tax.

I am wondering if you can do both. For some trips DDE will be the way to go and for others the dining plan. I wonder if you eat on the dining plan can you use DDE for the alchol discount?
I don't see why not! That's what we're planning on doing! :teeth:

We're "local" (70 minutes door-to-door) so we day trip a lot. We'll keep renewing our DDE for those day trips and alcoholic beverages. We'll do the dining plan when we actually stay overnight.....as we bought DVC for the space, NOT the kitchen, and nearly every trip we eat one TS, one CS, and one snack each day. The dining plan was MADE for us! :teeth:

I can't wait! Too bad our first trip won't be until mid-June or later! :( (DH will be in Iraq March-early June. :( ) Guess me and the kids coould go up for a weekend to take our minds off missing Daddy, though.....hmmmm....sounds like a plan! :teeth:

DH and I used the meal plan last May before we joined DVC and loved it. Next year we won't be getting APs or the DDE so this is great news.
