Hi Everyone! Some of you might remember my previous posts about DS going into the Air Force. Well, he left on 8/26 and is in the middle of his third week of boot camp and I got a "real" letter!! (vs. the address letter I received last week). This may sound unbelievable, but I can already detect some signs of maturity. When he left three weeks ago, he was what I considered a typical, self-centered 18 year old boy with no direction. Here's some tidbits of todays letter:
"sorry I left you with so much of my dumb crap to do.. I was too preoccupied with my fun activities than what was really important. Don't worry though, maturity, responsibility and discipline are being drilled into me more and more every day, haha"
"on Sundays I've been going to church, it's actually really fun and it's a good place to let loose, meet people, and forget the daily chaos"
And, to his little sister, DD11 "listen to Momma and do all your homework. Enjoy middle school and make good friends instead of cool friends. Dress, act and do things YOUR way, not how people want you too. And most importantly, NO BOYFRIENDS!! Tell them all that you have a crazy older brother who doesn't allow it."
I'm so happy and proud right now I could burst. I was putting all my eggs in this one basket so to speak and wasn't really sure if I should support him or not ~~ right now, at this moment, I am very glad that I did. Of course, that could change any minute

You should be very proud.
This past year was a trying time for me as a single parent and I was caught quite off guard when he started to show his "independent" attitude, the one that said "I'll do what I want, when I want..."
