News Flash, Another Ms Change

So is Name and Adress Info for DME or what?

  • Of course, if MS says it is to speed up check-in, it must be!

  • Perhaps the DME info was so spotty, it needs to be done by MS

  • Another nail in the commercial renter's coffin.

  • Something else, please read my post!

  • Whatever Rinkwide says, that's what I think!

Hey guys and gals:

Per 2 MS Advisors today.

Full Party Names, ETA... Lead Guest's ... Address and Phone numbers will be required at the time of reservation!

I was told this was to speed check-in times and ease DME info gathering.

Being the skeptic that I am, I thinks perhaps it is to discourage 'Spec' renting....

What do y'all think?

Anyho......

Merry Christmas (Happy last night of Hannukah) and Happy New Year and Kwanza to all!!!!!

-Tony

We have been asked for that information for a long time now. Were you told you could not make changes later - adding names, removing names, changing names?

This would seem, to me at least, to be an important policy ONLY if all names MUST be on the reservation when originally made ( where absolutely NO changes would be allowed later) and any subsequent changes would require a cancellation and rebooking - thus opening up all changes to be affected by the waitlist.

I hope changes are allowed, we don't always know who will be in which room (though I have the names of everyone in the party) when we book, the actual logistics of who wil be where isn't always worked out. I don't see how it will necessarily improve DME, what if the party arrives on different flights, on different days...for instance, one person can only stay 6 days, while everyone else can stay 8 or 9 days.

Of course changes will be allowed. But this might accomplish both things mentioned: making it more obvious when spec rental is taking place and speeding check-in.

Oh, dear. Our gathering next November is still not firm as to who will be in which room. The new policy could be tough. We know how many rooms we are reserving but may have more or less in each room. There have to be others like us who book for large groups 11 months out and don't know at booking the exact names!:confused3

We've been asked for all names since they started printing the guest names on the room ID's rather than just the person who made the reservation like before. I've been able to add names later.

Merry Christmas from building 64 at OKW!

Yes, but the ADDRESSES have not been required for each person. That is a change.

I had to give addresses for our December ressie, but I didn't need it at the time I made the ressie, I just had to call with them prior to our arrival.

LOL, anyone who thinks this is related to renting would truly be out to lunch.

How this speeds up anything is beyond me. (I don't like them asking for my last few soc numbers for 'security purposes." I tell them that for security purposes I don' t give that information out.) My guess is that in regards to the question, they will still ask for all this information again when you check in. How's this speeding things up?

If they're doing this, my guess is it isn't for DME. DME requires only your dates of arrival and departure and your flight numbers. And they won't mail out multiple packages to members of the same party with different addresses. I don't know about anybody else, but usually at the time I book I don't have flights booked yet, so there isn't much use signing up for ME at that point. And a lot of members making reservations don't intend to use ME.

I usually book for just me and add people later and have never been told that I can't do that. Nor have I been asked for the addresses of friends staying with me. My last booking was 12/21.

I just made 2 ressis last week and all I was asked for was the names of the people in the party and the ages of any children.

We just checked in a couple of days ago. Although I had given MS the names and ages of my party (just my family), the check-in desk only had my name and I had to do it all over again when we checked in.

I'm not sure why they would want more information than they've requested previously. My guess is they have some compelling reason, and I don't look for a subplot to every procedure change.

My original post was typed in amisleading way, not intentionally however.

I believe MS still only wants the lead guest's address, not *EVERYONE's* addresses.

Like Granny, No matter how many times I have given our names and addresses when making a ressie, at check-in at least one of us no longer appears on the ressie, and our address (which is our DVC address of record, BTW, has never been present, even when we used DME.

As to subplots, other than believeing that we *DID* land on the moon, I am a card-carrying conspiracy plot member, SUPRISE!, lol.

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas, and here's hoping for a Happy, Healthy New Year!

Thanks for the clarification. This is not a change, then. We have been asked for all the names and lead addressess for at least two years (we needed them for our December 2005 reservations made in January 2005 for sure).

Not trying to argue with your post, just pointing out the various responses received when contacting MS - I called this morning to reserve our unit for November and I told the CM our party would consist of myself, DH and our 3 children, hopefully my parents, DH's mother and two to three others. The CM just listed me, DH and the kids and said we would add the others when I had them nailed down. I guess this is just one more case of just being "who you speak to".

Same with us they had just me and 3 blanks 2 adults and a JR.
Had to regive all the info that she had on another page that was correct.

She stated this was just for printing out the room keys. I didn't have to do it for a DVC stay in June or a CRO (POFQ) stay in Oct and they all printed out just fine.

Recently I did a 3 day work meeting for my company and we stayed at SSR in a 2 bedroom - myself and two of my employees. At the time of making the reservations I did not have my employees home addresses in front of me so I gave them my home address.

This past week I recieved mail at my home address, from Disney, made out to my two employees.

It is not to deter renting, speed things up, blah...blah...blah. It is to get more names and addresses to mail Disney marketing crap to.

yup.

Until they start demanding ID from everyone checking it this is just another marketing ploy that I wont give into. Everyone who travels with me lives at my house unless I'm not staying in the room...in that case they live at the house of the adult who is checking in. Now if Disney wanted to pay me for their vital statistics that would be different!
