News and Developments for Future In-Person runDisney Events

Anyone who did Charity route for Wine and Dine - did you get your registration links already? Or are you getting them later/

I was just coming in to ask the same question. I officially registered with my charity yesterday earlier this morning but was wondering if I would get a way to see it on my Run Disney account so that I can submit a POT. Anyone have any experience with this?

So do we know anything about POT cut-offs for MW yet? or is it still speculation?

This does seem like *something* they would announce ahead of time.

I have a half in a month and I need to decide how hard i'm going to try :rolleyes1 :ssst:

I'm in the exact same boat. I have a half in September that I could push for sub-2hr time if needed (I've done it several times before, just have to train harder), and not even sure a September 2021 POT would be accepted. Or I could use an existing POT for a half marathon that I already have, but it is 2:07 and not sure if that will be beyond the cutoff. I keep checking the website but don't see anything yet.

When I did Goofy in 2020, the actual registration was through the RunDisney web site. The charity gave me a special link. So ultimately the registration was part of my RD account (and could be modified for PoT, purchases, etc)

My charity has said that they send them out later. They will still get them to by the POT deadline though. I think they want you to reach fundraising milestones first. I don't know how every charity does it obviously.

Edit: And also what jmasgat said.

The PoT deadline is October 13th or so, so a September 2021 half would be quite acceptable.

I have, realistically, no chance of running sub 2:00. But if it was still like.... 2:20, then if I had a REALLY good day, there would be a small chance I could have the best day ever and pull some pixie dust out of my tutu. Otherwise I might just treat it like a long run....

Someone I know shared a response from runDisney regarding POT. I saw the screenshot of the email so think it's likely accurate and was mailed out yesterday. But, ya know, I don't have definitive first-hand knowledge so take that for what it's worth.

Half marathon of 2 hours or less or full in 4 hours or less. Result submitted by October 12. Race must be run between January 1, 2019 through September 30, 2021.

My husband is NOT happy about this change. He's not sure he even wants to run because he's worried about ending up in the last corral. With more time and a LOT of training he might be able to get a sub-2 half, but with a September 30 cutoff he doesn't have the time to manage it without risking injury.

With a 2:20 POT I am not happy either. There is however, a counter argument that may or not make sense to you (and others). As @DopeyBadger has guessed, there will probably be an A and B corral of POT followed by a C corral of Club Run Disney. There will then be multiple (3-4?) huge corrals of runners hopefully assigned by the estimated finish used during registration. Many folks will overestimate their speed (some by a huge amount), but for people like me and your husband, we can estimate 2:00-2:15 and get in the first huge D corral.

Then the issue becomes how close to the front of the D corral do I want to be in order to be in one of the first mini-waves? If I am willing to enter the corral very early, then I will actually be closer to the front than I would have been under the old system. I'll have to decide if missing the pre-race comradery with the other DISers and having to camp out in the corral for at least 90 minutes (2 hours?) is worth it.

Make sense??

Ugh. I had sort of targeted an Oct3 half that would have been good (Wineglass), but now have to reconsider if this is worth it. And now even more annoyed that my most recent half was 2:00:10.

Definitely and I'll remind him of that. We've done both in starting at the very front of the corral and starting in the very back. Both have their advantages, but while sitting in the corral all that time isn't especially fun, we felt like the pay off for being in the front of the corral was worth it.

Oh man! That's a killer!!

Same - we were looking forward to the Wineglass as a possible POT

I find both responses completely possible though. My hunch when I saw this screenshot was that the person answering the email at runDisney was using outdated information (5:00 hrs being the 2020 cutoff), but it did say "2022". But then counter back was the use of "2 years from event date" which I didn't fine reasonable given the lack of races in that window of time. I'd lean towards your information being the more likely outcome.

Well some of us DISers have met before the walk to the corrals even opened. So you wouldn't have to miss everyone. And potentially if it plays out where Corral D is massive and such, then there may end up being a contingent of DIS'ers who want to stay together on the walk there and in the corral. If things remain the same, then the wait in the actual corral will be no more than 90 min, and more likely something between 60-75 min. One thing to keep in mind is the ease in using the portas. So work on liquid consumption timing if you feel it will be an issue.

How fast would a half marathon POT have to be to work out to a 4 hr marathon?

Well, he shared two emails. The first was dated July 8 and matches the screen shot you shared. The second email was from yesterday, so I'm guessing they are still updating information but who knows with runDisney sometimes. LOL Like you said, formal information and an update on the website is likely coming this week in anticipation of early registration next week.
