Well, I think I *might* have the answer as to why there has been such an issue with folks getting their photo CDs for the early trips this season. We just had our Greek Odyssey Farewell Dinner  and the Adventure Guides told us that instead of waiting to get a CD of the photos, they are now putting them "on the cloud". They provided us with a card with the location and credentials to access and download all of the photos for our trip. We were told they should be available in 7-10 business days, and will be available for 90 days from when they are posted.

So it's my guess that this new delivery system was not ready in time for the earlier trips, and they had to scramble to get the CD's done the old way. But that's really just a guess on my part.

SPOILER!!! The biggest downside, and it makes me really, really sad, is that they won't be putting the slide shows on the cloud, so you'll only ever get to see it the once. (If you don't know what the slideshow is, don't ask. It should be a surprise! ;). )

Oh, I don't like that idea at all!! :(

 I don't like that idea. I'd much rather have a CD.

We usually video the slide show but its nice to have a copy.

Not receiving the slideshow is very disappointing. The download could possibly be an improvement. On our recent trip, there were many occasions when I didn't take photos of the scenery because the guides were in a better position to get the shot. But when I received the CD there were almost no photos except family shots and they are mostly not our family. The photo the guides took of us at the Guard House at Machu Picchu is not on the CD. There is one photo of our group before getting on the raft, but none of our raft once we got in the water. And there are no photos from the welcome dinner, Cusco, Junior Adventurer's Night, the white elephant dinner or the farewell dinner. In fact, there are no photos after the morning of day 7 when we visited Sacsayhuaman. There are big gaps throughout the trip where the photos are missing. I know the guides took more photos than are on the CD and the ones that were chosen to go on the CD are questionable choices in my opinion. There are a lot of photos at the airport in Lima, for example. Not exactly the most scenic location we visited. The CD is full, so there wasn't room for all the photos, and it appears that very little thought was put into the selection of the photos that were included and maybe that was because of the delay. :confused3 Anyway, if putting the photos on the cloud means that all the photos will be available and we can choose the ones we want, that would be a good thing.

How disappointing! I wonder if you could call them and get them to load your remaining photos to the cloud...

I think a lot of people were thinking as you were, which is why ABD switched. But I wish they would figure out a way to include the slideshow. :sad1:

I'm going on my first ABD trip in October (BSM), so this is a situation where it looks like it would be good to know how to plan.

So, if the slide show at the end is not included on the cloud, etc, and it sounds like it's very special, should I also take a video camera just for that event? I probably wouldn't carry it along for most of the tour, but would take it to places / events where I would want to capture a memory, not otherwise available afterward.

Since they build the slide show on their laptop, I wonder if they would mind copying it off to a thumb drive? I'm going to bring one along for our August trip in case they're willing. We just love to go back and view the slide show after our trips!

I doubt they will be able o accommodate that request. Once they accommodate one, they should do the same for everyone else who ask, which would take a lot of their precious time. Those guides are incredibly busy behind the scenes and copying a slide show on a thumb drive for one is probably not something they will be oing.

I would tend to agree with that. Plus, Landon said the slideshow was embedded in the software, which is proprietary, so I'm not even sure they could do it if they wanted to. :worried:

:rotfl: FABULOUS!!! :thumbsup2 I'm putting together a short post with some pics to hold folks over until I can get the Trip Report started! I have house guests showing up in 2 weeks, so it might take a bit... :)

Are they no longer posting the pictures to Disney Photo Pass?

I haven't been on a trip in a few years but have signed up for Backstage Magic in June 2014. They were putting all the pictures on Disney Photo Pass and you could order the CD or which ever pictures you wanted.

That's very disapointing that they are no longer making the slide show available :( It is a nice summary of the trip to view with friends to show them where you went.

They haven't done Photo Pass for a while (I'm thinking since 2010?). They started sending everyone the Guide photos on the same CD as the slideshow.

I agree about the slideshow. I still pull mine out just for a nostalgic review of my trips (I watched all 4 I have just last month). I'm very, very sad they're not available any more. :sad2:

I second that feeling. We leave in a couple weeks and will miss not having that memento to "re-live" our adventure.

I am sad about this. Also read somewhere of no more first day surprise gift.
Of course, not the reason for traveling with ABD, but those extras were so sweet and really gave that extra "pixie dust" known only to Disney. :-(

We are doing a Disneyland Paris add-on to our Knights and Lights ABD this month. Since it is an add-on, will we get any pictures from DLP? I'm trying to decide if I should investigate a photopass option for out trip (assuming they have one). TIA

All we got the first day was the duffle bag with an ABD pen. Nothing else. I agree, it's not the reason I choose ABD, but it really was a nice little extra. No idea why they've stopped. :confused3

The add-on is your hotel room, tickets and, I believe, VIP fastpasses. No pictures (or any Adventure Guide services) are included. I believe your transfers and breakfast should also be included. It's been a while since I've looked at this add-on.

Not suggesting that the ABD guides should do this, but one of our Tauck Bridges guides burned CDs as a surprise for the entire group. A photo CD is not typically included in a TB trip, but our guide took photos throughout the trip and gave every family a CD at the farewell dinner. She was the only guide for a group of 40 people and there was much less "time on your own" than there is typically on an ABD, so she was very busy and still found time to create this nice surprise.

I just booked my first ABD (and its my honeymoon) for next September. We are doing the Germany trip. Is this "photo cd" included for free in your package or do you have to pre-purchase it for a large sum of money like Photopass+ ?
