Can anyone suggest a good place to eat in Newport. We are going on a Saturday night 3 couples. Looking for good food, fun atmosphere and not too expensive.

All suggestions welcomed:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks Everyone

Brick Alley Pub, good food, good drinks, great atmosphere for three couples looking to have fun:)

Brick Alley is just plain food. IMHO I am not familiar with Zelda but White Horse Taven is the oldest tavern in America. LOTS of history if you like that sort of place. Also Spiced Pear is located in one of the mansions whose name eludes me at this time but it is also a very very good restaurant. Neither of these are cheap but White HOrse is less expensive than Spiced Pear. Also there is a restaurant on Banister's Wharf the name too eludes me but we ate there on Restaurant week. All three restaurants I mentioned have tons of ambiance. If it were me I would eat at the mansion because I heard it is fantastic.

The Spiced Pear is located in the Chanler which is a small hotel/B&B located on the Cliff Walk- very good food

We have had lunch at the Inn on Castle Hill-pricey but good with beautiful harbor view

White Horse Tavern is also a good choice

There are also lots of good restaurants on the wharf and up and down Thames Street

Also very popular is the Red Parrot on the corner of Thames and Memorial Blvd

DH and I usually go to Newport at least 2x a year- will be there in a couple of weeks for the Jazz Festival.

The Red Parrot is like Brick Alley not great food if you ask me. I thought the Spiced Pear was in a mansion. I am going to try it on Restuarnt Week in November if they are still participating.

Brick Alley Pub is a good suggestion. We usually go for lunch. Possibly a long wait.
Yesterdays - 20-25 beers on tap if you are into beer:cool1:
Scales & Shells - blackboard menu, fresh fish
Mamma Luisa's - If you want Italian
Pour Judgement - Creative pub fare and craft beer.

We ate on an outside patio at Brick Alley pub last week....it was very nice to eat out there. The food is good quality pub food with a fun atmosphere.

My DD works at Astericks which is on the other end of Thames. I havent eaten there, but she tells me they have some very unusual specialty drinks.

We were unimpressed with The Red Parrot several years ago.

Puerinis for Italian food

La Forge if you want very nice food! It's a little off the beaten path, but great

and, of course, Brick Alley Pub - it may be a pub, but they do take reservations and I highly suggest making some!

Oh - for really casual seafood, Flo's Clam Shack is right on the beach. Johnny's is right across the street from that, and it is also very very good!

Something must be wrong with me because i did not like Flo's either. I was expecting big things because I love clam shacks and it was not great. I guess it must be but I tried Brick Alley a couple of times and I just don't get it. I am not a food snob but I guess I must be ordering the wrong thing.

There is a place on the warf with the window/walls that open right near the pier I think it has a number in its name. I liked that one too.
