Has someone stayed in an "ADMIRAL" room ?
How was it ?
Any given reason to spend some more money on this rooms ?
Are "standard rooms" in SEPARATE buildings or ... in the main building - where the restaurants are ?

:cheer2: MAYBE ... not yet sure ... I could get :Pinkbounc as our anniversary gift :Pinkbounc a trip to DLP next January !!!!!

DH was "watching" some pictures of Newport Bay last night ... it might be a surprise ... might be JUST MY DREAM !!!!!

We stayed in a standard lakeview room at NPB and it was lovely. The crispness of the blue and white decor and bed linen gave it a clean feel. We did find the hotel big and it took us a bit of time to get our bearings (kept going out of the front instead of the back way onto the lakes). But once we found out where everything was it was great. The restaurants are overlooking the lake and you can leave by this 'back' entrance which makes it quicker to get to the village and beyond to the parks. The pool was all one depth but clean and inviting.
The Newport is all one building unlike Sequoia which has the main hotel and other smaller buildings which have standard rooms. You pay more for a lakeview but its nice to look out on. Our window only opened a few inches though so you couldnt lean out but you could still watch the world go by.
Never been to the Admirals floor but it is supposed to be similar in services to castle club at Disney hotel. I believe the rooms are the same its just the private area; quicker check in etc. Hope someone will come along who has stayed there and can advise you more.

Becky not the HNY :faint:

:teeth: I like to try and keep a balanced view about things Reid - so I thought I would try the NBC just to confirm to myself that the HNY is still the best!!! ;)

We stayed in an Admiral's Club floor room at NBC in July. To be honest, I could not give you one reason why it cost more than a "standard" room. Room was small by American standards (which was anticipated), and had one maintenance problem, when they never came to repair. So I fixed it.

When we were there, all of the restaurants, bars and the lobby were under renovation. Major renovation. I'd check to make sure they are done.

The "advantage" of Admiral's Floor was a separate check in line - and even that line was extremely long and time consuming. The standard check in line was huge.

As you can tell, I did not enjoy the NBC (mainly because of the massive amounts of maintenance going on) - but we LOVED DLRP.

We're staying on the Admiral's floor next March, I chose it for the free swimming pool towels and hairdryer (more space in the suitcase), you can order breakfast in your room, apparently breakfast time can be quite chaotic - probably because of the size of the hotel and number of guests, the quick check in - although going by Eurostar, most of our check in will be done on board the train, just have to collect the room pass.
In previous years the Admiral's floor has been eligible for the Hotel Fastpass, although I did notice that it isn't listed in the Winter DLRP brochure as being one of the benefits.
Re: NJBlackberry's post I believe all the maintenance work has been completed, but the pool is closed from 14/11/05 to 02/12/05 inclusive. :earsgirl:

Free swimming pool towels? Wow; it was in the high 50s and low 60s (F) when we were there in JULY, so I guess I didn't take advantage of that :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I would not have called the check in "quick", perhaps quicker than the regular check in, but for a special line, it did not move quickly.

We were given three sets of FastPasses to use; we didn't need any of them since the parks were not that crowded.

For our 25th Wedding Anniversary I booked the NPB Admirals floor room with lake view. What a joke ! When we went to the room it stank of smoke and we had a lake view ..... if we were a family of giraffes.

I created ( I have to admit ) I was sooooooo disapointed and eventually with a lot of hassle we were given a different room - my what a difference, it was one of the ones on the front with the balcony ( you can see it in all the brochures of NPB ) I have to admit it was one we decided that they must keep aside for any visiting Germans (sorry to anyone from Germany who comes on this board );)
We didn't see any bath robes though.

I have to say that I wouldn't pay for the Admirals floor room again, but then I wouldn't go back to the NPB again either. Its a nice hotel but the atmoshere was a bit aloof and clinical and the staff were downright rude. The Cheyanne and the SL have been much more pleasant stays for us, but like they say you can't please all of the people all of the time. I'm sure you will love it.
It helped our cause when I was able to show the brouchure had a photo of the Admirals floor room with a balcony - giving the impression that that is what you would get. I have never seen them use that photo again !

:flower: :flower: Thanks !!! :flower: :flower:

Sorry I wasn't on line last days ! had been busy with family and friends visiting with us for November 1st - which is a BIG holiday in Italy !!!

I'll try to understand if the maintenance works are done by now !!!
We don't care that much about Fastpasses ... as we both are Disney-nuts
and just like to walk down Mainstreet and ... :wizard: feel the magic !!!! :wizard:

Not yet sure about our trip to DLP ...
but we have been at Cheyenne, DL hotel and Sequoia in the past years:
 we LOVED them all , though each one is so different !!!

So I think that a change would be fun !!! and we never tried Newport bay club !!! Maybe we'll be going ... keep fingers crossed !!!

Myself and DGH have old parents ... with many problems ... we can never be "sure" about our projects ...

I'll let you know ... :earseek: if we can go !!!! :Pinkbounc

THANKS again !!!

We had the same thing this time at the Cheyenne and previously at the Sequoia Lodge even though we specifically requested non-smoking rooms. It doesn't seem as if guests take that much notice of the no smoking signs anywhere at DLRP. even in the restaurants.
