Newly ECV bound and transportation questions

Hey all! I'm in my 30's and was recently diagnosed with Guillian Barre. I was in the hospital for about a month, but on the mend now. Thankfully, at least as thankful you can be to contract a disabling nerve syndrome, I'm likely to make a pretty good recovery over the next year or two with lots of therapy. I can walk, but have stamina, balance and coordination problems. I mostly use a walker at home but do have a regular chair for bigger days like going to the mall, etc.

We did a test trip weekend for the Halloween party and rented an ECV. Thought I would hate it, but wound up really liking it. It took the pressure off me worrying. We stayed at the Poly so I got really good at getting on and off the monorail.

This next trip we are staying at Wilderness Lodge, my favorite for Christmas. Taking a troop of 8 and I'm the planner. I know the smaller boats are not ECV accessible from our previous trips but the larger ones are. Do the bigger boats run more due to the holiday crowds? Should I depend on boat transportation at all?

Second question. I have a few days where our dining reservations are transportation difficult. Like a 8p dinner reservation at Jiko. Normally hubby and I would have cab or uber, now not so sure. How accessible is ECV transportation at a hotel? I'm think meats probably has something, but I don't want 7 other people standing around waiting just because of me. I'm sure we could always take the bus back to the MK and then change busses or worry about the boat again!

Sorry so long, just looking for some help from a handi friendly newbie at Disney.

Time for just s quick response - all of the WDW buses are wheelchair and ECV accessible.

As you mentioned, the small boats to/from the MK area resorts are not, but there will always be other transportation available (like buses).

Follow the link in my signature or look near the top of this board for the disABILITIES FAQs. There is a post in that thread about transportation that talks about accessible transportation

I saw and read it twice. Thanks for all you do! I'd like to think I've always been a friend to those who need it, but you never realize until you have to ask for the help. It's humbling! This will be my second time (first was a test weekend trip) on the ECV. Also carting a party of 8 the week of New Years. I love reading and writing trip reports and would be happy to do a holiday slash large party one if you think it would help.

I was hoping with this post for more real time info. We've stayed at WL at least 5 times in the last 3 years. I never paid attention to which boats came when until this year.

You could take a bus from wilderness lodge to mk and transfer to the akl bus for that reservation. forgoing back to wilderness lodge you have to use Disney springs as the transfers point unless a theme park is still open. Disney buses and drivers will get you around Disney quickly and safely yes you might have to transfer at theme parks or Disney springs but it will be easy.

Or you could you a a accessible taxi from mears call head to reserve.

Disney springs transfer not happening! Thankfully we will be there New Years week (or not-depending on perspective). Al least good news, MK will be open late every night so we should have more options. I'm just hoping the big resort boats run most of the week. Either way, I'm going to make touring plans so even if I have to wait for a bus, no one else is held up.

Okay that time of year mk will be open real late so you could use them. But just check because once they close the drivers are not allowed to take any guest back to the park unless they have their car parked in the parking lot. But that week mk should be open late enough that you shouldn't have a problem. Also they will add extra boats and buses during that week to handle the extra crowds.
