Hey all! I'm in my 30's and was recently diagnosed with Guillian Barre. I was in the hospital for about a month, but on the mend now. Thankfully, at least as thankful you can be to contract a disabling nerve syndrome, I'm likely to make a pretty good recovery over the next year or two with lots of therapy. I can walk, but have stamina, balance and coordination problems. I mostly use a walker at home but do have a regular chair for bigger days like going to the mall, etc.
We did a test trip weekend for the Halloween party and rented an ECV. Thought I would hate it, but wound up really liking it. It took the pressure off me worrying. We stayed at the Poly so I got really good at getting on and off the monorail.
This next trip we are staying at Wilderness Lodge, my favorite for Christmas. Taking a troop of 8 and I'm the planner. I know the smaller boats are not ECV accessible from our previous trips but the larger ones are. Do the bigger boats run more due to the holiday crowds? Should I depend on boat transportation at all?
Second question. I have a few days where our dining reservations are transportation difficult. Like a 8p dinner reservation at Jiko. Normally hubby and I would have cab or uber, now not so sure. How accessible is ECV transportation at a hotel? I'm think meats probably has something, but I don't want 7 other people standing around waiting just because of me. I'm sure we could always take the bus back to the MK and then change busses or worry about the boat again!
Sorry so long, just looking for some help from a handi friendly newbie at Disney.
