Thanks guys.

There was definitely a plus to all of this...

I got to listen to his heartbeat for two hours in Labor and Delivery! :lovestruc

Piecey, hope you feel better soon.

December, I bought OJ today, because we have been talking about it. I haven't tried it in a while either. I hope I don't have yuo reaction.

Ann

Good luck with the OJ!

Thanks guys.

I got to listen to his heartbeat for two hours in Labor and Delivery! :lovestruc

That would be so wonderful! I love to hear the heartbeat. It is so reassuring early on, before the movement gets routine.

I finally got my house clean today. It was so disgusting-I hadn't mopped in weeks:scared: . And the dirty clothes were piled up! The last load is in the dryer, and my bathrooms are clean (for now). My checkbook is balanced, and ds11 is working on his makeup work (I had to basicly do all the math with him since he's missed a whole week with strep). Now I have to finish 4 assignments for my grad class, and finish reading for my test which the teacher will make available at 6am tomorrow. No, I didn't get a burst of energy. I just couldn't put it all off anymore. I feel like a big slug, but now I've at least accomplished something this weekend.

Tomorrow I have the test, I need to get started on our taxes, and dd9 has a project due this week! :faint:

Oh my! You've got a lot going on!

I had a list of stuff to do, too, but DH won't let me. (Laundry, cleaning, etc)
So here I sit. Super exciting!

It's gotta feel great to have gotten so much accomplished, though!

My poor laptop got a virus about 10 days ago. I didn't lose anything, but it took forever to back up all my files, wipe out the virus, and re-install everything. So I took a little enforced hiatus from here. (I still had my computer at work but I think my very nice boss would have frowned on DIS'ing.)

I'm back now and trying to flip through older pages on this thread to get caught up on everyone. My biggest news is that I had my 12 week u/s last Thursday. It turns out it was my 13 week u/s, we were off on our dates. (Not surprising since we have no idea when I got pregnant). So my new due date is July 31st and all looked well with the little one who even sucked its thumb on-screen to the delight of his or her two big sisters. It's silly because this is my 5th child, but I didn't realize how developed they are at 13 weeks. I was expecting what I saw during an 8 week u/s with my son, and instead, saw a very tiny baby. Yep, I cried.

Anyway, now that I have my laptop back I thought I would check in with all the other mommies-to-be! I missed you all.

Sorry about the gallbladder problems Piecey. That must be scary - I wonder what your OB will want to do?

I went to my first prenatal yoga class today and I loved it. Unfortunately it's only offered Saturday afternoons, which is when we tend to be busy. The instructor is a doula so she kept having us hold poses for one minute and telling us that's the length of an average contraction. Wow! I feel so much looser in my hips and back now. If you have a class near you I would recommend checking it out. Hopefully I will be able to make several more classes through out this pregnancy.

Has anybody here cloth diapered? I've been looking into it on line and it doesn't seem that much more complicated/harder than disposables. I know there's the initial start-up costs, but overall it seems cheaper. Any tips? Good websites?

Welcome back and glad you had a good u/s.

Has anybody here cloth diapered? I've been looking into it on line and it doesn't seem that much more complicated/harder than disposables. I know there's the initial start-up costs, but overall it seems cheaper. Any tips? Good websites?

I've been researching this off and on throughout the pregnancy. I had planned on cloth diapering, but then my dad and stepmom gave me a gift card for diapers and I bought some. I still may do it after a little while. I will try to post some of the websites I found later.

I had a pretty bad day yesterday. We had purchased a brand new washer and dryer set at Sears before Black Friday during a really good deal. Well, it just finally came in last week and DH picked it up yesterday. As he was installing, he realized he forgot a new gas line connector. With everyone here sick, I was dying to get out of the house (plus I had a 20% off coupon for Big Lots), so I headed out the door, walked over to my van and slipped on the ice. My feet went out from under me and I landed on my tailbone (and somehow UNDER the van :confused3 ). Finally was able to pull my huge butt up and get my cell phone to have DH come out and help me (after him ignoring 5 minutes of horn honking :confused3 ). I brushed myself off and didn't feel too bad, so I got in the car and went to Sears. When I got to Big Lots, my back started hurting more and for the first time in a long time, I was actually waddling again.

I had called my mom (who was visiting my stepbro an hour away) who continued to freak out and tell me to call someone. When I was in the checkout line, I had my first good contraction. Had another 20 minutes later after I got home. My back was hurting pretty bad, so I came online to research. It said call OB, so I called L&D at the hospital, knowing that my doc was on call. They gave me her answering service and she called back and told me being so far along, I could have ripped or torn the placenta and if our blood mixed, it wouldn't be good. So, I went up to the hospital. They got me on the monitors and drew my blood....and I waited...and waited. I was actually having contractions for the 1st 2 hours, pretty steady. They assumed that I was going into/in labor. Then, nothing.....they just disappeared for a while. Finally, my doctor came to see me and told me to just go home. They are supposed to call me with the results of the blood work today. She knew I had already been there 4 hours (4 hours!:crazy2: ) and had only eaten a bag of chips since noon (it was now 9PM).

I am pretty sore today. Hurts to stand up and walk. And my cold is now full force..... Ok, enough whining! Hope everyone else is feeling good!:goodvibes

OMG! I know that freaked you out! I hope the results are good, and your soreness goes away soon. By shoulders and arms were sore most of last week after my fall, but now it is just my ribs and back from coughing. Sometimes pregnancy really sucks, but the end result is so worth it!

Well.
Not heartburn.

Gallstones... I woke up at 1am and the pain was 10x worse and all over, below my chest, on the right side, etc. After an hour of not being able to make it go away, I woke up DH and he took me to the ER because I was hysterical (crying, etc.).. it really hurt, what can I say?

Being 21 weeks, the ER was required to "admit" me to Labor and Delivery. Let me tell you.. that that nurse clearly didn't want to be there. There was another lady in labor (had a healthy baby! :goodvibes ) so the LPN and RN were in and out. OB was at the other hospital, which apparently had 3 people in labor!

After TWO HOURS of listening to baby's heartbeat and watching me cry and asking me if I felt better yet (not sure how a baby heart monitor, which is ALL they did, was supposed to make me feel better :confused3 ), they DISCHARGED ME BACK TO THE ER! :faint:

Within ten minutes they had me in a bed, with an IV and were royally pissed L&D gave me nothing. So, they called up there to get approval and gave me Reglan and Demerol.
Finally. I could breathe. And stop crying! It was like magic. ::yes::

They pretty much knew it was my gallbladder, but took blood and told me I had to wait for the US tech to come in at 7, to be sure. Blood work came back indicating I had gallbladder trouble.. and US revealed stones.

They told me as long as I don't get sick again, I don't have to be rushed to surgery (they said if my stone moved a bit more, I'd have to be rushed to surgery) but that it's very important I speak with my OB first thing Monday morning to decide how to progress.

I'm glad to know what it is but really scared. He said the surgery has a miscarry chance (of course, doesn't everything when you're pregnant?) and I'm in the right trimester to do it but it's a decision my OB and I need to make.

..so.. Not heartburn.

I had a friend who cloth diaperd. She tried it for 3 months or so. At first she thought is wasn't so bad. The bigger her little girl got, the worse things got. She quit and went to pampers. She is the only one I know who has tried it.

And WOW! What a steal! Gotta love those CC rewards!
DH and I use our CC rewards towards our vacation fund... can't wait to actually get somewhere. It's going to be awhile. :upsidedow

Laura- I've been meaning to ask. What is up with the USA map in your signature with the different color states?

Thanks!

CC rewards are awesome. We'll definitely be using them for vacactions in the future! :thumbsup2

The colored states are the ones I've been to. I have a lot of places out west to visit, don't I? :rotfl:

lisa, how are you feeling? i cannot imagine going thru that at this stage!

sarah - work related questions...first, thanks for the sibing book suggestions - we are enjoying them.

any suggestions for my 6 year old? she is an advanced reader - they have her reading at a 4th grade level at school ... level R, which really means nothing to me. her G&T teacher started them out on an AWFUL book. ok, not awful - just innappropriate for a 6 yo ... just b/c she can read at a 4th grade level does not mean she is ready for 4th grade subject matter!!!

anyway...we are reading some american girl chapter books...have gone thru all the rainbow magic fairy books series ... started some boxcar children and magic treehouse...now I am stumped ...
any suggestions for good series? I wont do the junie b jones b/c I dont get the impression she makes real great choices based on reviews I have read ... the disney fairy books dont seem to interest her ...

Arg! Sounds like we're all having a pretty terrible weekend around here.

Best health to everyone! I'll keep you gals in my thoughts and prayers that everything turns out perfect!

As far as the OJ conversation, I, too had to get some, but cuz I have yet another super terrible cold. I am so over this. i'll probably miss work tomorrow and I left early on Friday. It sucks so bad when I'm trying to horde my vacation and sick time. Right now I have enough for 8 paid weeks, but at the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky to have much more than that.

Just checking in to update--Back to coughing and feeling terrible now.

Let's all hope for a great weekend next week! :teeth:

Well, I've finished all the work for my grad class finally.

Ds11 finished his math and history and is now doing English.

Dd9 has done a ton of work on her reading fair project. It isn't due until Thu, so I think I'll take a break from that.

I'm going to rest, cook dinner, then start our taxes. I really don't want to go back to work tomorrow, but since I only worked 2 days last week I don't have much choice. I'm so tired-aren't the weekends supposed to be relaxing.:sad2:

BTW, I had the same reaction as the OJ to some chocolate milk this morning. I don't guess I'll ever get over morning sickness. I'm blaming some of it on my antibiotics for my horrible sinus infection-huge blue horse pills!:crazy2: I had to refill ds11's cough syrup this morning-another $50. The budget for Jan was blown to Hades. I'm glad it is almost over.

Oh, my kids love the Magic Treehouse books! Ds11 read them all through elementary, and begged to buy every one that came out. Now dd9 has read all of his, and has asked to buy the new one (but it is in hardcover and costs $12). Her reading fair project is on one of them-Dragon of the Red Dawn.

That is one of my biggest pet peeves. I don't care what the teacher says, make sure she's still reading what she wants to read for fun! I know far too many wonderful readers who hate to read after their teachers forced them to read too complicated of books.

Okay, suggestions:
Katie Kazoo (great alternative to Junie--I hate Junie) These are creative and nice.
Geronimo Stiliton--Mouse detective, super popular and includes fun pictures and fonts that a 6 yr old would probably eat up.
There are Berenstein Bears and Arthur chapter books, which are a nice bridge for a child that young since they also have the picture books.
Ready Freddy is hugely popular around here, It's kind of a male Katie Kazoo. Fun but not rude and mean like Junie B can be.

One more note once she gets up to 5th grade level, but VERY careful. A lot of those books start talking about boys and menstruation and worse that a 7 yr does not need to be thinking about at all. I end up giving the kids like your DD at this level a LOT of nonfiction books. They usually have the 5th grade vocabulary without exposing them to anything they shouldn't be dealing with. So maybe try some of that. I have a bunch of short, well written books like this about science (planets, weather, animals--tons of animals) and history (fun stuff like Egyptians and the Titanic).

Anytime, don't hesitate to drop me a PM so I won't miss it!

lisa, how are you feeling? i cannot imagine going thru that at this stage!

Feeling sore. Trying to get off my back was so hard..:lmao: I have never felt so large in my life, as I did trying to pull my pregnant butt back up!

Everything is a little more uncomfortable now. I keep having contractions, but nothing really steady. We'll see what they say on Tuesday at my appointment. With this horrible cold, I am definitely NOT ready for labor!

How are you feeling? Any activity?

Back to coughing and feeling terrible now.

Let's all hope for a great weekend next week! :teeth:

I'm sorry you are sick too. This stuff going around is horrible. Everyone here is sick. My mom and stepdad got it. My sister and her son are really sick. No one can avoid it!

ok ... with all of you sick, it actually made me say "thank you" to DH for putting me on house arrest. he is standing in the kitchen right now laughing his butt off. you made his day.

nothing happening here - although I was sitting in our office enjoying DH desk chair when he came to help me up. I said, no, please let me sit here, i am so comfortable right now. he laughed and said, it wont last, she hates it when you are sitting upright ... sure enough she started squirming like mad. He thought it was so funny and said in this little girls voice "MOM! Your sitting on my head!!!" We just cracked up b/c she is soooooooooo low and the only time I am comfortable is laying down...its not wonder my weight is thru the roof, I never MOVE anymore!!!

he got some more work done for me this weekend ... installed 3 new toilets ( we just bought a water softner and I asked for new toilets so i dont have to look at the hard water marks anymore) and he also sealed our new master shower and caulked in the new tub and installed the shower in our basement bathroom and put up the waterproof drywall! the girls helped him run the electrical wire in the spare bedroom ...woo hoo!! we are making progress!!!

sarah ... we are off to look up katie kazoo - thanks to you!!!!
