Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

You guys are talking about tanks/nursing bras because you're breastfeeding, right?

I don't even know if I'll produce any milk.. but since I'm not breastfeeding, anyone know if I have to do anything or just let my body figure it out? Hm. I should read more books.

After a bit you just wont produce milk anymore. You might have to expel some milk to take down the swelling and help with engorgement, but it dries up fairly quickly if you dont use it. But I would still get some nursing pads, just in case! I didnt nurse my other two, and I stained up a few shirts when I leaked. it was messy for a bit.

I am not breastfeeding either. Your milk will come in and engorge your breasts shortly after the baby is born. Don't worry you will know when it happens...it can be painful. Wear a sports bra to bed when it happens and avoid putting hot water on the chest in the shower. This was a helpful hint my SIL who is a nurse gave me. Milk will dry up in a couple of days.

You'll want to wear something that constricts your chest a little. The milk, in time, will go away on it's own. They used to give shots to make your milk dry up, but they don't do that anymore. You will probably want to get some breast pads, because you will more than likely leak.:thumbsup2

Hmm. Okay.
They told me they can't answer my questions 'cause they aren't sure if/how many glands are still functioning.
They said considering that I have no tenderness in my chest, probably most of them were severed.
This not-knowing what to expect stuff is unnerving. :scared:

Nursing pads are going on the list, thanks! :thumbsup2
If nothing else I can gift the package to SIL, right? I'm sure she'd appreciate them.. :lmao:

(I don't remember if I mentioned it-- I had 4.5lbs removed from my chest a few years ago in a reduction.. which is why they aren't sure if I'll even be able to produce milk!)

panty liners work in a pinch too!

Ingenious! :thumbsup2

...your ultrasound is soon, isn't it?
It's so exciting to find out what everyone is having! :goodvibes

A week from Monday, 1/26 :cool1: ...we cant wait.
There are a couple of others on the list that should be soon too, like Rparm.
I think it is a boy, my step children are hoping for a girl. I will be happy with an healthy bundle of joy!:cloud9:

I had to special order mine from JcPenney. Motherhood and Target didn't really have any in "special" sizes. Good luck!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm definitely worried that the stores won't have any to try on in my size.

Oh yeah. I need some nursing bras! I was hoping to find a tank I can wear, I figure it would just be easier around the house.

I got a few nursing tanks from Target. They seem like they will work out well, especially for around the house. Though being a first time mom- I have no idea what to expect!

I bought some when my ds was born, and they worked great! Now... I need something a little bigger then what Target has.

I know this was a topic a few days ago (I am just catching up).

I have had 2 baby showers so far and the girls from work have another one planned for the end of the month. My HB's family is from upstate NY- about 3 hours from where we live now and with the winter weather, it is hard to travel too far. My MIL threw a shower for me last weekend at her house and my SIL threw a local shower for me today. I only invited my college friends to both showers. Most of them live out of state and I wanted to give them an option of which location was easier... I also told them they were more than welcome to go to both- but please don't think they had to give more than one gift.

I CAN'T believe how generous people have been to us! Especially with how bad the economy is- people are going over board! This is the first grandchild in both families- but still!
I have taken lots of hand me downs- and now I have just about everything I need! My daughter is going to be a very well dressed little girl!
I am so thankful!

The only things I have bought for myself are the bedding (about $50 from walmart) and my breast pump.(man those things are pricey!)

Hope everyone is feeling good and not freezing if you live in the northeast! It IS COLD!!!!!!!!!!!

I had 2 showers for DS. This time I should only need a couple of things. My parents said they would buy us another convertible carseat when needed!:cool1: I know I need new Dr Brown BPA free bottles, and a new changing table mattress. Depending on the sex if a girl some pretty frilly thing!

I thought it might be a fun to see what the experienced Mom's could not live without or recommend to the new Mom's a must haves on their baby registries.

Things that come to my mind are the craddle swing, and medela sterlization bags. I dont know what moms did before swings. I bottle feed and plan on doing so again...these bags are great for sterilizing bottles and I took them with me when we travelled to WDW to sterilize bottles in the hotel.

I am sure more will come to mind but what are yours????

Well.. this is kinda the same theme Disney Ron...

How many crib sheets do you suggest having on hand? Especially if you're laundry-slow. Like me. :rotfl:
Basically-- I know to expect incidents.. spit up, bathroom problems, vomit, etc... but how often does this happen?
(I realize every baby is different, but what is a good number to start with?)

I made it with 3 crib sheets and 2 pack & play sheets. And 2 changing table covers, boys tend to spray when exposed!

What I couldnt live without? The swing. For my ds it was his paci. I didnt want him tohave one, but he had a really strong sucking reflex... and I would have been DONE without one!

Crib sheets?? Gee. I had 4 or 5 I think. I dont remember. So far I only have two for the twins, but I have a friend giving me a bunch... so I dont know how many Ill have for sure.

Also.. Learn how to do a good tight swaddle. Babies LOVE it! My dd was NUTS unless she was wrapped so tight her bugged out. :rotfl2:

Hm... Okay.
I have three, already. One that came with the bedding and I got two more at that discount place for 2.99/each!
I figure people will probably gift me some more, so it sounds like I should be good on those.

I've never seen pack-n-play sheets? Hm. I'll add them to my registry list, I assume Toys R Us would have them? Same with changing table sheets. Don't have any of those yet, either.

I'm trying to buy stuff slowly so as to not hurt so much. Still stings, though!

Thanks for the input. Anything else you can suggest as a must-have for a little boy??

They sell them almost everywhere. I got mine at walmart.. Im sure they sell them at TRU too.

Last time I was at the baby store, they had these little cups to put over the boys pee-pee while you change his diaper so he doesnt get ya! We were dying!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Too funny!
