I have always wondered...how does bedrest actually work when you have other kids? HOW in the world did you do it your last pregnancy?

I had the flu last weekend while DH was away at the Army and lemme tell you I am STILL trying to reclaim my house...my girls behaved lovely but did not put a a single thing away for two entire days....right about now I am wishing I could still bend over to pick up polly pockets :0

I checked my chart at the OB today. Big mistake...I am three lbs heavier already than when I delivered DD #2....ugh...needed some retail therapy. Found some lovely things on clearance at TJ Maxx for Christmas gifts. I feel much better!

Hi! Can I join in? We just found out on Halloween that we are expecting our first baby. I must say, we were shocked! I'd been on the pill for 10 years and I'd only gone off for 3 months. I thought it would take longer!!!

Based on the online calculators we are due July 1st.

Looks like you and I will be going through the same stages together!
When is your first appointment? I have appts for 11/17(initial nurse consult and blood work) and 12/10 (Dr visit).

Thanks! I was on bedrest with DS#1. How I wish that I would have enjoyed it more! With DS#2, I was on progesterone shots (17P) for most of the pregnancy. I didn't have to go on bedrest.

This time, we had decided that we wanted a "normal" pregnancy with no shots or high-risk doctor. It will be my fault if I have to go on bedrest, although I have no idea how I will do it with kids!!


We were all sick here too and I am still trying to catch up on cleaning! It's amazing what doesn't get done when you can't do it, isn't it!


Hmmm, you may just have the right idea with retail therapy!

Yeah I'm in the throws of morning sickness and really can't get anything done until the afternoon...my house as completely suffered, plus I'm having food aversions so I don't want to make dinner,etc. Ick! I am starting to feel better, a few weeks ago I was really bad!

With my first I was sick from the get go for 5 months straight. So far with this one I have only been sick once, so far. I am hoping that I may not be as sick this time around.

I think it would be great to have twins in the sense that like another poster said, you only have to go through pregnancy once!
I just don't know if I can go from full-time college student, working and having all my freedom to SAHM to TWO newborns! EEK!

It would be wonderful, though.

I hope I don't have any morning sickness either. I'm such a baby when I'm hungover, I can't imagine feeling nauseous every day!


We told my husband's family about us being pregnant on Sunday. My niece and nephew go to the school I teach at. I warned them to not tell anyone at our school. Today, I got a phone call from a concerned parent who wanted to let me know that the kids were spreading rumors about me being pregnant. I told her the rumors were true and asked where the kids had heard it from, and she said my niece.

I was so mad!!!! I wanted the chance to tell my class (5th graders that I've looped with from 4th) and my niece took that chance from me. I picked her up from her class after school and let her have it. I told her I was so disappointed in her and even more disappointed that she lied to me when I first asked her about it.

So I guess my cat is out of the bag at school. I talked to most of the kids that knew about the "rumor" and told them it was true and to please keep it to themselves. I really thought I could trust this neice. She has always been such a good kid. Other teachers tried to tell me that she must have just been too excited to contain herself, but the truth is, she just wanted a reason to talk to my 5th graders. She is in 4th grade. She just wanted to feel cool. I think my disappointment in her is punishing her quite well though. She cried the whole way home from school.

With my DS (2) I was sick as a dog from the very inception ...or at least it seemed that way. With him I was sick for 5 months. I am hoping this pregnancy doesn't come along with all that nausea.

With ds11 I was sick the whole 9 months. With dd9, I got sick the day after conception and was sick on and off most of the time. I guess after 9 yrs I blocked it from my mind. I didn't get sick this time until 8 wks, and at 12 wks it is getting worse. I called the doctor today and said the Zofran isn't working, what else can I do. They called in 2 different prescriptions, and I held down supper! 1st meal in over a week, so I'm excited this is going to work!

I feel blessed. Nothing here.
I've been nauseus but as long as I eat a little something (they call my area at work Fort Knox for food , since I work in a bank and EVERY drawer has a key that I have sole access to!) it goes away until I need to eat again.

People told me if I'm not sick by now I'm unlikely to get sick. Phew. Thank goodness.

I'm so glad a new thread got started. The other one was waaaay too long to just jump in.

DH and I are expecting our first baby on May 4, according to the online calculator. So, I am 14 weeks along. We go for our first ultrasound December 10. So far, everything is going well. I've had the morning/afternoon/evening sickness but not until somewhere into my second month. I've been getting terrible headaches. My doc told me Monday I could take Tylenol. I tried that last night and thankfully it worked.

We are so excited for everyone! What a happy time! I'm glad we can all share in the joy (and pains).

Well, for me, I don't like jumping into threads without first reading all the posts. It's a pet peeve of mine when others do it, so I try not to. You have to admit, too, that a thread of over 100 pages is a little intimidating.
