"Newest" Moms Hangout... take 2!

It's been a rough week here. DH lost his job and with me staying home with Carys means we have no income coming in. He can apply for unemployment today so that will be something. Fingers crossed that he will find something soon. We will only have medical insurance until the end of the month so now I need to figure out what to do for the wee babe. I said to DH that if it was only me and him it wouldn't matter but now that we have her that it's more of a concern. One of our cats is sick and we might have to put her down. She has been our "baby" for 12 years so this has been rough too. We finally (8 months later) got the bills from the hospital for Carys's delivery. Good timing. Plus we got one for when we had to go in for false labor which I wasn't expecting. Now to come up with that money  On the up side the time change went well and I was worried about it so thank goodness. :goodvibes

I'm sorry for everything you're going through! No one needs those kinds of stresses!

I'm so sorry. I'll keep your family in my thoughts. :grouphug:

DH's school levy failed and our new governor has said he plans on elimating all state funding for libraries, so we're both totally freaked out. We were planning on buying a bigger house in the next year or so, but now we're staying put and buckling down.

Our new governor ran on the idea that he'll go through all the state positions and eliminate anyone who is doing a job that he feels shouldn't be the responsibility of the state. Many of us in state government are now wondering whether he thinks are job is worthy or if we'll be out of work soon. This is on top of not getting increases for the last three fiscal years, having promotions frozen, and big health insurance increases each year.

Once the baby is born, I'll have my resume out there, but I'm not full of confidence at this point.

Thankfully, our County budget just passed yesterday. No cuts in our office. DH just started a new job in July. He had been working as a buyer for a luxury yacht company (you can imagine how that was going!) at a company that was 45 minutes away from our house. He ended up getting a job as a buyer for a sign manufacturer in the city where we live, and they are SWAMPED! So hopefully things will be good with us for a while.

Sorry I ignored these yesterday, I was in a hurry...

I think I will point Lily toward private sector careers. Being the slave to politians whims can be downright dibilitating.

I'm glad things are going well for you!
looks like a great link! thanks for sharing

You're welcome!

Based on yesterday's labwork, they have scheduled a CS for Monday. Cathy is beyond upset.

I know it s#cks to not get the kind of birth that you wanted, but the most important thing is come out the other side with a healthy mom & baby. The docs are looking out for her health, pre-eclampsia is really nothing to mess around with, it can go from concerning to deadly rapidly, so if the docs consensus is it's time to evict the bub, well it's time to deliver -- and if c/s it has to be, well there are worse possible outcomes.

How far along is she? Do you have a current estimate of the baby's size? I'm assuming that baby will need some time in the NICU -- wishing you all a "short & boring" NICU ride, from someone all too familar with the NICU.

 Sorry for Cathy.

Was Sarah a c-section? I can't remember.

How old is Sarah now?

..............

I'm going to be an aunt on Thursday! BIL's girlfriend is having her c-section @ 7am. I've gotta get up at the butt crack of dawn to drive to the country and get my MIL and get back into town for the c-section. I'm so excited for them! BIL's first (probably only) kid and the FIRST girl in DH's family in several generations.

I can't wait to hold her. :lovestruc

On Monday, she'll be 37 weeks 3 days, so we may avoid NICU. As I recall, the ultrasonic weight guestimat was 7lbs, 3 oz.

 Sorry for Cathy.

Sarah was a C-section, also. Otherwise, we would have had the doc try induction first.

Sarah had her first birthday yesterday.

Ours is scheduled for 7am, so we have to arrive at the hospital at 5am. That means we have to get up at something like 2:30 to get moving and take Sarah to the inlaws.

I'll keep Cathy in my prayers. C-sections aren't that bad, and you will end up with a healthy baby and healthy mommy.

Daniel is continuing to grow like a weed. I'm pretty sure he went through a growth spurt this week as he was eating every 2-3 hours day and night. I was exhausted. Last night he slept 6 hours and I was so shocked. He hasn't slept 6 hours since he first came home from the hospital. Since he's only nursing once a night I finally moved the pack n play into the nursery, to use the change table part and he's been napping today in his crib with no problems. Hopefully tonight will go well and I don't regret moving him to his room. He's also getting closer and closer to the 15 lb weight limit of the pack n play bassinet. I'm estimating he's about 13.5 lbs. We go in for the 2 month check up and shots next week. It's hard to believe that he's almost 2 months old. I'm really enjoying and loving my little boy.

I'll be thinking about you and Cathy on Monday, Steve. Best wishes.

I finally got my photopass CD from the August trip, so I can finish the trip report. Here's my favorites:
I love this one. We were leaving Epcot after a great morning, but it was hot and Lily was DONE. But I had to get this picture.

You can see the rest in my report!

Good luck today Steve and Cathy!!!

Sarah....LOVE the picture with Lily and Minnie! Super cute!!

I can FINALLY see Elliott's third tooth getting ready to pop. He got his first two right around 6 months, but nothing since!! And he has been soooo drooly the last month or so, I thought it was going to be any time!

Good luck on the delivery today!! Wishing you a healthy baby and healthy momma!!

So... Our news for today... looks like we are chucking the birth control as of today, and going for number five. :scared1: My husband is ALL for it. He is crazy excited at the idea of a new baby. Think maybe we are baby addicts??:lmao:

In other new Annabelle now has 2 teeth and will be 6 months tomorrow.:lovestruc My sister is here visiting from Ohio with her husband and two month old baby girl Rose. :goodvibes We took advantage of them being down and got pictures of my 3 sisters, 2 bil, and 5 nieces (12 in all with us) for my parents for Christmas.
Also the pic in my signature is one from Anna's 6 months pictures last week if you want to see more let me know and I will post.

Hi everyone. We had an ultra yucky day here. We had to put our 14 year old Aussie to sleep today. His name was Larry and he was the best dog and Natalie loved him. She keeps asking for Larry. She'll walk into another room and say Larry, Larry, Larry. It breaks my heart. My husband and I got him right after we got married, so he was our first "baby". He will be missed.:sad1:

So sorry. I know it is hard. They become such a huge part of the family.
