Yes, my DSis had that reaction. She can't quite understand why her sons and I (who all read the books) were so gung-ho over the series.

She never felt the same way about the characters the way we did.
Of course not. When they so quickly glance over all the emotional elements, cut the dialogue down to a THIRD of what's in the books.
. . . And the DEATH scenes!

I wept, I mean I wept

over the main characters who died in Book 5 and particularly Book 6 - you know who I mean. But, in the movie, it was like watching an abbreviated clip on the evening news.
I'm sorry, but when you've been along for the journey in 6 books with some of these characters, they
deserve their death scenes done properly - not skimmed past in slow motion. We've all watched enough death scenes to know what a good tearjerker death scene is.
