I LOVE this thread but am feeling overwhelmed! There are so many wonderful ideas and designs - I feel like I could sit for hours and do nothing else for days but sort through all of the choices!

I am not very computer savy so I have a few questions to get me started. Once I make a request for a design so I copy and paste it into a Word document and then print it out on transfer paper? Is there anything special I need to know first? I played around with one design that I copied into word and it was soo big I had a hard time gettting it to resize. I read Dolly's instructions but am still having trouble. That leads me to my next question -

How big is the image supposed to be that you print on transfer paper - 8 1/2 x 11, or your preference?

I want to get my ducks in a row before I make any request. We have a trip planned for Dec. so I want to think through it before I post b.c. I know everyone is super busy!! Thanks so much for the help and I apologize if this is posted somewhere esle that I am overlooking.

I'm hoping you got the instructions on how to resize an image and hopefully that worked. An easy way to make an image smaller is simply to "grab" one of the corners of your picture with your mouse and drag it to the middle. But if the image is really large...this is a quick version of what I posted on the "How to personalize DISigns using Word" thread...you will have to do this a bunch which is why I posted to click on the image and then go to "format" then "picture" then the "size" tab and change the size of the image. You will only be able to change either the height or width...then click on the "tab" key and your computer will reformat the other side.

How large or small you want the image is really up to you and who you are making the image for. If you have a printed t-shirt that you love...measure the image to determine what size you might like. A lot of people run "test prints on regular paper (using a fast draft print and black and white to conserve ink and iron on paper). Then you can cut out the image and place it on the shirt to determine if you will like it.

Since you are a newcomer...in case you haven't already found it...check out the "what do you make thread" which should be a few posts above this one or here is a link:

Thanks Dolly! Yes, I did read your instructions on how to resize in Word and I did try it but for some reason it was chopping off part of Mickey's ear WITHIN the design - not on the edge of the paper?? It was as if it changed the disign itself????

The thread you posted for me - will this give me insight into what types of designs are offered? I am feeling overwhelmed and thrilled at the same time and feel as if I could spend hours on end sifting through the options. I would love a quick "overview" of what types of designs are out there.

Once I decide do I just post a request and then wait for a designer to answer based on their availability? Sorry for the "elementary" questions. This is one I want to be careful on so I am respecting everyone's time! Thanks!

Most DISigners have threads with their specific DISigns where you go to make a request. Go to this thread and it will answer most of your newby questions:

It is a sticky at the top of each page and is called "Design Tips".

The thread that I put in my other post will give you an idea of the type of things that you can find and make on the Boards. The Creative Boards used to be just t-shirt DISigns but there is so much more like journals and activity books for kids, invitations for special events at the parks like Dining Reservatoins and Bibbity Boppity Makeover for girls, "sweet treat" notes for family members that are well behaved at the park, planning notebooks, travel games...anyways you get the idea but the thread that I posted has pictures and ideas for things to make.

I'm not sure why you are having sooo much problems with MS Word. Have you tried it with a different picture?
