We would like to goto Disney World sometime in late 2008 or early to mid 2009. We will be camping in our 30' Travel Trailer. We have been there in the past and stayed at hotels. This will be our 1st time at Fort Wildreness.

I have a couple questions:

If there is a FAQ section, please point me to that area..

1.) What is prefered vs non prefered.
2.) When booking, is it better to call or book online?
3.) Where are all the 1st time campers pointers? Is there a thread devoted to newbies and there questions? Or do I just search and read.

As I read thru some of the threads, I get more questions and just wonder if there is a consolidated area where the most popular questions are compiled.

the first time we stayed at fort wilderness was last easter and we loved it. it is a very nice, big campground. :cool1:

for your questions:
always call when booking you have a better chance to catch a cancellation or an unexcepted opening. :thumbsup2

as for the other question i am new to this website to so im just looking around to see if i find something that would answer my questions about this site :)

The search function will be your friend but here's the quick and dirty
1) preffered are the sites closer to the settlement area, they have cable also, standard full hook up are more centrally located as a general rule. The partial hookup (water and elec) are for popups and tenters and are in a couple of places but not near the settlement.
2) IMHO I call
3) search function, its all been discussed but its spread out.

Have fun

All loops except 1500 & 2000 have Water, Sewer & 50amp/30amp power hook-ups. The preferred loops also include CATV (mostly loaded with Disney Information Channels) and for an additional charge for a modem, you can get internet connection. Some of the preferred sites (100, 200, 400, 700 loops), are an easy walk to the boat transportation, Settlement Trading Post & Trails End Restaurant. Other preferred sites really aren't that much closer and the only "preferred" item would be CATV.

You are welcomed to bring your pets, but you must advise the reservationist that you are bringing one. There is an extra daily charge & they assign you to one of several special pet loops. Preferred pet loops include 300, 700 & 500. Non-preferred pet loops include 1600, 1700, 1800 & 1900 - I think the 800 loop is also a non-preferred pet loop - but can't remember.

The two loops that (IMHO) are the worst in the campground are the 1800 & 1900 loops. If you come during a rainy period, you are in a swamp back in those loops. On the plus side of the 1800 loop, there are a couple of sites that have the creek to the back side of the site & are very pretty.

I hope you have a wonderful time at the Fort! It is the best campground in the WORLD!! :yay:
