So, we want to go to DL early spring once our Newborn is 1 or 2 months old. Do you think we are crazy?? Have you done this? How did it work out?

We went in March 2006 when our youngest was just 2 months old. Quite honestly I think it is much easier having a newborn than a one year old who wants to walk (or crawl) everywhere.
Let's just say I would rather take a newborn than a 1 or 2 yr old! No tantrums or meltdowns! :)

thats what I was thinking... Our DD will be just 5 and with a newborn it will sleep most of the time and make it easier.

We first took DD1 at one month old. She was a very fussy, high maintenance baby who never slept more than about 45 minutes at a time (fun!) I am happy to say that DD was sooooo good at Disneyland and slept in her stroller for 4 hours straight! It really was Disney magic!

We are taking DD2 in July for the first time. She will be two months old. I am not anticipating any problems with her.

I definitely suggest making use of the Baby Center on Main Street. It is air-conditioned, quiet, and a great place for nursing and changing diapers. They even have little potties for potty training or already-trained toddlers. There were times when I just took DD there to sit and rest where it was cool and quiet. A great retreat from the hustle and bustle of the park.

Our youngest went when he was 2 weeks old. Our others kids were about a month old. Just make sure your baby doesn't overheat as it can get hot during the spring time. Make use of the baby center if you'll be nursing or warming up formula and for changing diapers.

The only thing I had to be careful of was the loud noises from fireworks or fantasmic. My kids were great around the other stuff but those 2 really freaked them out. We even had protection for their ears.

never took one that young iirc ours was like 6 months maybe. still a baby. and the only complaint is that you and your significant other have to switch off for the bigger rides. unless you have a set of extra hands. but we didn't miss out on much and it was actually nice to take it slow and see alot of things that people just walk by caause they are after all the rides.

Taking a newborn will be the easy part. If you are recovering from a c-section or a difficult delivery, it might be hard to walk around a lot.

Other than escaping the heat in the baby center on Main St. (I love the ladies they have in there. It was nice to sit in a rocking chair to feed my little one. he was 2 months as well) hopefully it won't be you & your 2 young ones. Don't forget about using switch passes. I went with a bunch of my family & they were all happy to take turns with my little one while another one would get to go back on the ride with me after they went. Switch passes & Fast passes (now that they are older & hate standing in lines), gotta love Disney!

We decided when we had our last to either go while she was a newborn or wait until she was older. I didn't want to go with a 12-24 mth old lol

She was 6 wks when we went and was great. She slept most of the time. We nursed on alot of the rides so that we got to ride all together. And we did baby switch on any of the other rides we couldn't take her on.

And we got some great photos of her with the characters !

I have no experience to answer your question, but when we were there we saw a baby that looked like it was about 2-3 weeks old...REALLY little.

I say go for it, just be relaxed about your plans.

Have fun and congrats on the baby!

If a one month old baby should get sick and get a fever, that means a trip to the ER and three pokes: one for blood, one for urine and one in the back, a spinal tap. Otherwise, as others have said, it should be pretty easy. That's my two cents at least.:confused3

yeah but the trip to the ER can happen even if we stay home... But thanks for all the advice from everyone!

Ditto with a boy. Pirates, HM, and other long, dark rides were the perfect environment for him to nurse and then be asleep at the exit.

I personally would not wish to bring a newborn, or a baby otherwise to DL nor to any amusement park, for I would be concerned about their being in danger from everything from getting sick from someone, or germs in general, to becoming too hot or cold, to someone attempting to abduct my child, to loud noises, bad smells, creepy people, etc.
So for me, forget it sister, I would either wait until the babe was older, or depending upon how old they are at the time, have a trusted relative or friend, nanny, professional sitter even, watch my child. Of course then I would probably worry about them, all the same, so for me, I find my self going back to the idea of just waiting until the tyke is older, which would be defined by my own particular situation.

Traveling with a newborn is a piece of cake compared to traveling with a 2 year old....at least in my experience! ;)

Hey Ruthie, First let me say congrat's I haven't been lurking here a lot and so I was excited to see you are having another one. I bet your dd is excited.
My dd was 6 weeks old for her first vacation, not DL, but a camping trip, it was great, they are so portable at that age.

I don't know about you but I couldnt' wait to bring my kids there. Since we live nearby it was also a way for us to get out of the house. We knew that bringing them to DL presents the same issues you stated as bringing them to the grocery, the mall, or the doctor's office. You can't always live in a bubble. Plus, his pediatrician, my OB and midwife all recommended that we get out once in a while with the baby.
