Hello all,
I am new to pin trading. I bought a bunch of pins from my Disney store in hopes of trading when I am in WDW on my honeymoon in 16 days. Anyone have any good advice or how to trade? I have never done this before, but I love the idea and I know it will be alot of fun. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Heather,

With a honeymoon on the horizon, it sounds like TWO congratulations are in order! Firstly, congrats on your wedding and secondly for discovering the wonderful world of pin trading!

As for trading DS pins, you will have the great success trading with Cast Members. As long as they do not already have the pin on their lanyard that you are offering in trade, every pin on their lanyard is fair game. Look for CM lanyards wherever you go....they're everywhere!

You'll find trading DS pins with other Park guests more of a challenge, as DS pins are rather plentiful.

I bought a bunch of the DS pins that are from my state (Texas) because they had that big 50% off sale. I took advantage of that I am surprising my FH with the pin book and tons of pins in it. (Ok so I am the one that is really into it, but I know he will love it) I also found him a Timone and Pumba pin at the DS (took me 30 minutes of looking) because those are his favorite characters. So far I am just collecting what I think looks pretty, but I would LOVE to get more Princess Aurora pins. (She is my favorite)
I can't wait to get there and see what the CMs have to trade. I am already addicted and I haven't even gotten to WDW yet

Hi, Heather!

First, congrats on the upcoming nuptuals!! DW Lauri and I honeymooned at WDW and had a blast!! Of course, that was when we got hooked on pin trading. You have an advantage over us in that you're getting an idea of what you're getting yourselves into ahead of time.

The DS pins are popular as traders with the CMs. They're something different from what the CMs usually see.

One piece of advice I have is -- go see Scoop! Scoop gives a seminar on pin making and pin trading etiquette at Expo Hall Sunday thru Thursday at 1:00 PM. Lots of fun and a great talk and a great chance to meet other traders.

Hmm...Another Heather...this could get confusing... : )

Congrats on finding someone special and on getting addicted, I mean, finding a new hobby! It's always nice to have new faces...well, posts, around! If you really want the basics a man named Scoop does a seminar at WDW every week and shows everyone who is there how it is done. I haven't been there in a while so I wouldn't know, but I'm sure someone else would be hapy to tell you the time and place.

But here's some tips:
1. Always have a smile. Happy people get more pins.
2. Always have a pin. People with pins get other pins.
3. Always keep an eye out for CM's running off to break rooms. A lot have a habit that when they get a good pin on their lanyard they sneak off and put it with their own pins.
4. Always have a sense of humor. Pin people can get pretty wierd at times, so have an open mind. *wink*
And finally...
5. Always remember to "Happy Pin Dance". That's when you get a really cool pin and you show the world by dancing about! : )
