Ok...not new to Dis... In fact...I thought I was almost a veteran. ?

I have seen the WISH site a few months ago...when we were preparing for a Make a Wish trip...I thought this was the "WISH" site for Make a Wish kids!? Confused?...yes I was! :)

So...now...I went on this Wish trip...and if you are bored, you can read all about it with the thread on my siggie...it was a great trip...but I really, really, really want to go back!!!!

Being single, though...my friends can't go back yet (economy!)...but I really want to. I want to so bad...that I have been trying to invent ways I can get back there. I would ask my friends to go with me...but most of them have families, etc and it just wouldn't make sense to just ask them to come and leave their kids at home, right?

But...then...a light bulb went off in my head...Don't they have races in Disney? You see, I am not an athlete...not really...at all...I could lose 100 pounds and still be fine...ya know what I am saying? But I have done a "baby" triathlon once...and I didn't die. I even enjoyed it.

They have the half-marathon in Disney...wouldn't it be cool if I could train for that...and talk a friend or two into training with me...and go back to Disney! and Train! What a GREAT motivator! Even if I end up taking the trip by myself...at least it would not be a "solo" trip...I would have LOTS of people "going" with me! :)

I could lose some weight...but more importantly get healthy...or more-healthy anyway! AND go to Disney!

What a great idea, right?!?

And I thought...I wonder if the Dis has a thread about the races? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Uh..HELLO! I had to google it!... but there is a whole BOARD about this? Seriously ???

So...I am new...to this board...and I have no idea what I am doing. And I have not read anything yet...but I will...!

I do have one question...besides this random introduction...and if you got all the way down here on this...awesome! Maybe YOU can help me! :)

Has anyone around here done the "Race for the Taste?" Because that might be more up (well, DOWN) to my speed...I think I could actually do that and not die in the process! :)

Welcome to the WISH side Maroo!

I'm glad that you've found us!

Yes, you should have responses from many that have done Race for the Taste (RFT). I have never, so I cannot answer.

There is a women's tri at WDW (Danskin I think) that is supposed to be very favorable to beginner tri folks and you may even find that appealing. Again, I don't know anything about that event either since I've not done it.

Definitely, though, you will not find yourself alone at events. We usually will post on the weekly threads about our training so you will have support there as well. At the very top of this side of WISH you will find a Welcome to the Wish Team sticky. That has good information linked that will definitely help you along.

Feel free to join in any of our threads. Everyone is welcome. Have fun and your training will move along nicely!

:welcome: Maroo! Enjoy yourself getting to know us! We will enjoy getting to know you too.

Welcome!!

It wasn't too long ago that I was a newbie myself - I started running in January and ran my first half in September. I'm looking forward to running my first Disney race next month. You will not find a more nice and helpful bunch of people anywhere. Ask all the questions you like!

Welcome!!! I read some of your trip report with Lauren and cried happy tears. Love the "rainbow". I did Race for the Taste this year and had a great time. I am planning on 2009 also! Ask away if you have any questions!

Maroo, welcome! I have done RFTT the last 2 years and it is one of my favorite races to run. In fact my DH said if I could only choose one race out of Expedition Everest, RFTT and Tower of Terror (I did all three this year) which would I choose. Definately RFTT. It is a shorter race, which is nice, I love the chef hat medal, you get food and cold soda at the finish! Plus it is during October which is Food and Wine so I love to go at that time. Hope to see you there next october!

Just wanted to add my welcome and tell you I loved your trip report, didn't get much done last night because I was reading the trip report, but loved it

I haven't done RFTT but have done a few Disney races and found all of them really well organized and fun.
