newbie with some questions

I've looked for the answers and can't seem to find them so if these are repeats, please point me in the right direction.

I am planning our first ever trip to WDW for next summer (2007).
How early can I book our rooms? A year in advance? Or do I have to wait until next January for 2007?
We will be going with a childhood friend of mine and her family.
Me, DH, DD, DS. (they will be 12 and 5 at the time)
My friend, her hubby, and their 2 sons (who will also be 12 and 5 at the time)

We were planning on 7 days, but the cost isn't much more for 10 days, so should I just go ahead and stay 10 days? I don't want anyone to get too disney'd out, if that's even possible. Plus I was thinking with everything there is to do, we'd always be able to find something to do, and with the 10 days, we may even get a lazy day or two by the pool. Not to mention being able to spend numerous days and each park.

I am looking at Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disneys Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, and The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. We need a 2 bedroom (at least) that sleeps 8.
So any recommendations on which resort to stay at is greatly appreciated. We like having a kitchen and living room etc.
Also price isn't too big of a factor, since I will be paying on it monthly. I want to stay under 12K though. Not including air fare. Still not sure about the dining plan for all of us yet or not.

10 days is absolutely perfect since you are going in the hot summer months. You can go to a park in the morning, go back to the pool for the afternoon and then go back to the park for the evening. No one will be tired of Disney after 10 days. You can also spend some time in the water parks. If you are looking for a 2 bedroom I would choose the OKW. Their rooms are a lot larger than the other resorts. I have stayed in the 2 bedrooms at OKW, WL and SSR. OKW is my favorite due to the room size. My second favorite is WL but the rooms are alot smaller square footage wise. Good Luck.

Disney will release package rates for 2007 probably in June of this year....you will probably be able to see room only rates for early 2007 now, if not, then definately by June.....this is what my AAA agent told me when I asked about booking for October 2007....

Thanks for the info, EBLACK. I want to plan a May '07 trip and was wondering when the information would be out.
