Newbie with lots of questions

Hi,
I am new to the board with a ton of questions.I wont ask them all at once or I will be typing for the next 3 hours.
We are planning to go on Sept 25th for 4-5 nights.I have decided to get the Florida Resident annual pass.My 1st question is about hotel discounts that you can get being an annual passholder.Will I be able to Log on the passholder section of the official site as soon we receive our redemption certificates or do we have to wait until we actually redeem it at one of the parks?

A few other questions?13 year old son-thinking of Akl-Discovery Channel is his favorite thing to watch but even he said it would get boring after a couple days.MY Dh likes all of the folloeing OKW,Beach club Villas and Boardwalk villas.Which one of these do you think my son would have the most enjoyable time at.
I am a Florida resident but havent been to Disney since 1991.We have been an Universal Family abd have been staying at the Hard Rock or Royal Pacific.I have always been afraid of the crowds at Disney but am ready to go experience the "Magic".
