hey all. i've been lurking here the last couple of weeks and decided to post. i got engaged a couple of weeks ago and have convinced my other half to have a wishes wedding. we're planning for june 2009 so i know there is mucho time before specifics fall into place and contracts signed and what not. but i had a question regarding the wish book. i know that prices can't be guarenteed until 6 months out of the wedding and the wish book prices are more like a guideline seeing as prices will change (for us 6 months out of our june 09 wedding is a long time). what i was wondering is how off is the wish book prices? i mean i don't want to plan for a wedding to be around a given number, give or take a thousand or two, then the final price would end up being say $5000 more than expected because the wish book is so out of date.

i personally think the wish book is worthless. everything in my beo was more than it is listed in the wishbook. i would say it's about 15% under actual cost.

I agree with Caryn. Wishbook doesnt tell you how much floral is, or how much the menus actually are (which are nowhere close to the minimums on wishbook). Also, they haven't raised their menu prices since 06 i believe. So you may be in for a raise there.

Amen to that, Caryn! Besides having inaccurate pricing, the Wishbook doesn't offer half of the options for floral, decor, etc. I abandoned it months before we even got engaged, so I was shocked when my planner printed out the one I'd made when I was in DFTW dream mode about 2 years ago and brought it to our planning session.

tnprincess80, you will find way more accurate pricing info just by searching this board. There have been several threads where brides posted their detailed BEOs - the breakdown of all costs associated with their weddings. I used this info to cobble together a budget that helped me and DF decide whether we could afford a DFTW. :thumbsup2
