Newbie with a Subscribing Question

Hi All! I am as new as they come to this message board thing. I am a Disney World fanatic from Massachusetts and am quite excited to meet others who share my addiction! I am the coordinator, so to speak, for a big family trip to the world this coming April (me and my DH and his entire family - 11 of us total) so this resource is fantastic! As I have been reading food reviews and trip reports I have noticed people "subscribing" to these. How does one do that? Thanks in advance!!

If you post in a thread, it will be tracked for you in your "User CP" (the link for your User CP is in the upper left hand corner of the page) and if you have the option enabled on your "Edit Options" you can receive email notifications that a new post has been added to your subscribed thread. So that is why you will see people post "Subscribing" in a thread.

But you can subscribe to a thread without posting in it. Along the top of the first post on the page is a "Thread Tools" menu. Click on there and then click on "Subscribe to this thread" and voila, you're subscribed! Hope that helps!

To check your subscribed threads go to "quick links" in the upper right hand corner, then press "subscribed threads".

Ok. It is important to know that you don't automatically subscribe to threads when you post in them as some have said. It depends on how you have your account set up. So:

1. Click on "User CP". (It's on the bar at the top of the page on the furthest left.)

2. From the Control Panel, click on "Edit Options."

3. Under Messaging & Notification, go down to "Default Thread Subscription Mode". In the drop down menu, make sure it says anything other than "Do not subscribe." (I have mine set on "No e-mail notificiation". When I log on to disboards, I simply go to my User CP and all the threads I've subscribed to appear.)

4. Every time from then on that you post on a thread, your account will keep track of the threads you post to. If you want to subscribe to a thread without posting on it, once in the thread select the pull down menu at the top that says "Thread Tools". From the choices choose "Subscribe to this Thread". (Please don't post a message saying just "subscribing" like others do. It's not necessary.)
