newbie w/ some questions

Hi everyone. My name is Meri and I'm new to the boards. I've been to WDW 4 times (1988, 1992, 1997, 2000), and DL (1998). I'm making a trip out to WDW in December with my BF. He hasn't been on a vacation since he was 7 (he's 24 now) and I really want to make it a special trip for him.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do that?
Also I'm booking the trip this week but I have no idea where to stay. What hotel would be most friendly to a 23 and 24 year old?

Since you are going in December make sure that you hit Mickey's Christmas (I don't remember the acronym) but it does cost extra. Since you are both young adults try the Segway tours at Epcot and it cost extra, too. These are just some ideas to feel special. I don't know what resort to recommend because it depends on your budget because you will be going during a pricer time of the year.

I would suggest getting a WDW tour book at your local book store or order it on line. Personally, I prefer the Passporter.

Try allearsnet.com Deb's website. It gives pictures of all the resorts. It also has great ideas for everything. I agree with a book. I personally like Unofficial Guide and the 2007 edition is just out.

What are the Segway tours? I've never heard of them.

I do need to get a book b/c that would prob help as well.

Also just found the exact dates we're going is Dec. 12 - 17 so we are still in Value Season. I know absolutely nothing about hotels b/c we've stayed Off-Site the last times we went and have only stayed at the Contemporary (but i was 4 so i don't remember much). Disney hotels seem convienient since we don't want to rent a car.

I know I can't be of a whole lot of advise, since I am pretty much in the same boat. But my fiance and I bought Birnbaum's Walt Disney World Guide, and Passporter Walt Disney World Resort. Birnbaum's is the 'official' guide, but I personnally prefer Passporter, it is much more indepth, and has better planning tips, but then again, it is all personal preferance. I got both of them at Barnes and Nobles.

We are staying at Port Orlean's French Quarters for our honeymoon, it is one of the moderate resorts, so it is reasonably priced, and looks pretty romantic in setting.

My vote is for Port Orleans riverside If you stay in the mansion its really romantic. But the whole resort is very quiet. If you go to the value resorts there is alot of unsupervised kids. Don't forget to use the magical express it worked wonderfully for us and doesn't cost anything. Try to get a late reservation for the UK by the water and you can watch Illuminations from there it wis wonderful. The other place for a good dinner is the Living Seas you get to sit by the aquarium it is very nice. Have a great vacation. (Wish it were me)

Hi, I forgot to mention earlier, I would DEFFINATLY get on of the packages. I don't know off the top of my head what is included in them, We are going with the Premium Plus Dining Plan, which covers some food (one table service, one counter serivice, and one snack per day), admission into the parks, a meal at Planet Hollywood, and some other really cool stuff I can't think of, but it is all listed on the Disney World Websight, or you can get a booklett from a travel agency that has it all in there.

Also, if you are going to stay at a disney resort for 4 days or longer, I would seriously consider looking into the Park Hopper and Water, Fun and More Options, they are a super big conveinince. The Park Hopper allows you to go to multiple parks in a day, and the Water Fun and More Option gives you a certain number of passes to Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Disney Quest, The Sports Complex(can't remember what it's called), and Pleasure Island. The number of passes depends on the number of nights you are staying. We are staying 8 nights, and we each get 6 passes.
