My husband and I are making a quick trip to Universal Feb 18-22. We are staying 2 nights at the Wyndham Orlando Resort and the last 2 nights at RPR. I was playing around with changing the order of the hotels but it seems as though the Universal Hotels are very full. I could not get a room at any hotel on Feb 19. Now, for my questions. What is going on that weekend? Is it really going to be that busy? We are making our first trip alone in 14 yrs. (since our honeymoon). We told the kids it was a scouting trip to see if they would like it. We have gone to disney every year for the last 8 years. We thought it would be something new to try. Are there any romantic restuarants that we should try?

Thanks in advance for any replies..............

Vote 2 for the Tchoup Chop at the RPR. Make reservations as soon as possible and take whatever time they offer if it is busy, as the place is beautiful, the service is fantastic, and the food is great. It is a very romantic place with the fountains in the middle and the colors throughout. Its a must do for us on our next trip down.

Thanks --- I will make reservations tomorrow. I looked at a menu for it and it does sound good. I can't wait.....There is an Italian place in Portofino's..........I can't remember the name........Would you guys recommend it?

Thanks----------

JKW;
Last trip we ate at both Delfino Riviera and Mama Dellas at PBH, as well as Tchoup Chop. Delfino has been rated as Orlando's most romantic restaurant and it is all that and more. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere top notch and the food sensational. The only negative: Our bill was $270 for just the two of us. It was a great experience once, but we will not repeat it.
Mama Dellas has great food, wonderful servers, and a lively atmosphere. But I would not consider it romantic!! More like eating at your favorite aunts Italian home. Strolling musicians are really fun and we had a great time with the kids (13 and 11).
Tchoup Chop was as described above but, again, not exactly what I consider total romance. There is quite a "hum" and pace to the place that says upscale, but also upbeat. We also took the kids here and they loved the mutiple servers fawning over us.
The one place we have not been to that I hear is really great is The Palm at Hard Rock Hotel. That will be for our next trip in May ;) .

Were you trying to make/change the reservations online or over the phone? Last night I was trying to see if there are better discounts for our April trip and I could get April 3-6, but not just April 3rd and I don't think just April 3-5. I'm not sure why, but possibly because of a minimun stay requirement. Try and see if the whole trip is available at RPR. If so it must not be sold out that one night.

I've also tried to get a room on Feb 12th at RPR or HRH, but have been unable to. I could get a AAA rate at PB, but this is a budget trip with only my 4yo.

I have to agree. Mama Della's is great but not romantic. I would think Tchoup Tchoup would be just alittle more romantic. But Delfino would be the most.

$270 for two people! WOW!!!!!!!

I'm impressed with that $270 for 2 people as well. I thought you would have to go to New York City to drop that kind of cash on a meal. And to think, we were going to take 8 people there for my birthday bash last year! Good thing we changed to Tchoup Chop!

Well, it was for our 15th anniversary. We did go for a $40 bottle of wine. But, even the antipasto was a bit steep. And everything was priced separately. No free sides with the meal or anything. As I said, it was a great experience once, but we wouldn't do it again unless we win major cash in the lottery or something. Then it's dinner for all of us at Delfino, while we enjoy our three week stay in the Presidential Suite at PBH (@$2K/night) ;) .

My question is, if the president were to really stay in the Presidential Suite, would he actually pay $2000/night?!

That is a good point. I bet they would comp it!!!!!:mad:
