I was browing around through the resort forums and I saw all kinds of marvelous scrapbook pages that have been created. I'd love to get started and be able to make something really special for my family's WDW trip in December.

My husband :coffee: , myself  , my DD11 1/2 princess: , and my DS 3 1/2 :mickeyjum will be staying at the Animal Kindgom Lodge from 12/14-12/20!

We've been to DWD several times before but I've mostly just put everything in archive boxes. We just got back from a week in London last month and I'd love to do something fun with the photos, brochures, tickets, etc.

So how does a newbie get started and where do you get all that great paper and stuff-this is going to cost me isn't it?

Help!

Patricia

Scrapbooking doesn't have to cost a fortune.

To get started you'll need an album, page protectors, paper, adhesive, pen for journaling, and scissors. As you go on you can add to your collection.

Many places sell albums. Even WalMart sells them. Albums comes in all sizes from 12x12 to 8x11 to 8x8 to 6x6. JoAnn Fabrics sells Stacks paper. There are like 180 sheets of 12x12 patterned paper in a pack. The regular price for this paper is $19.99, but if it's on sale or with a coupon you can buy it for much less. They have patterened paper stacks for Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. They sell nice textured cardstock stacks in different sizes. I like this cardstock. They even sell little books of 4x6 sheets of cardstock to mat your photos. You can see them on JoAnn's website. Michaels also sells packs of paper at a decent price. QVC sells scrapbooking kits that have several papers, stickers, embellishments, etc. if you're looking for an all in one kit to get started.

Places like AC Moore, JoAnn Fabrics, Michaels, etc. have sales where you can get coupons. Check the ads to see what's on sale. If you have AC Moore near your home you can sign up to get the ad and coupon in your email inbox on Wednesdays.

You can get some great ideas from someplace like Two Peas in a Bucket in their peanut gallery.

It's so much cooler to look at your vacation photos in an album than it is to get out envelopes of photos to thumb through.

There are a lot of adorable Disney supplies out there.

Scrapbooking is a great hobby.

Yes its going to cost you! :rotfl:

But there are some great ways to cut your costs. First of all do not just go out and start buying everything you see! There are ALWAYS sales for basic supplies going on. For example, Hobby Lobby is having a great sale next week starting tomorrow. www.hobbylobby.com sign up to recieve emails from all of the scrapbook places that you have around you. I have noticed that Hobby Lobby ( the only big craft store around here ) will have albums, refill album protectors, adhesive, paper, stickers, rub-ons, ink, stamps and other embellishments on sale atleast once every month and its usually a 1/2 off sale. It pays to be paitent. ;) ( basically dont buy basic supplies unless they are half off! they are sometimes sneaky and put it on sale for 20% off the week before the 1/2 off sale. ) That will make you :furious: LOL.

Another thing I would suggest is getting a scrapbook magazine and looking to see what you like before you buy anything. I really wish I would have done this first as I have ALOT of stuff that I dont use very often. Try going to your local scrapbook store and getting to know the ladies there, they are full of information!! Ask about classes and crops too.
