I am thinking of trying EBAY, to help with our Disney stay at Xmas.

I would like and try and sell my plus sized clothes. I have tons of items......pants, shorts, capris, shirts, sweaters, dresses.......all primarily purchased from Macy's, with a few from Sears or Mervyns. They are all in nice shape. Some have never been worn.

Do you think these would sell well? Would you package any in lots, and how would you do it? (ie, three t-shirts together, or a pair of shorts and t-shirt, and pair of pants and sweater)

I have lost 40 pounds, and don't really want them around anymore.

Thanks for any help

Julia

yes ive seen these sell well.....id organize them into small lots

Yes, these items sell well. I have sold a significant amount of plus sized clothing--breaking into lots sometimes, single items sometimes.

I'm doing the same, just got done listing the last batch of clothing and things have done really well. At this point in time I am getting the highest bids on summer items, swimsuits, summer dresses, tops and lightweight capris.

In a little over a month I have made (profit-after eBay & PayPal fees) of almost $700. I'll be paying for our 7 day tickets soon with my "found" money. Plus size lingerie/sleepwear sells pretty well too.

GL & Congrats on your weight loss!

Hi! This is for "WELOVEDIS"...That's great that you've sold so much on ebay this past month. I've been selling off and on for a year and a half now but have found this past month or two to be really, really slow. To make the $700 did you have any big-ticket stuff or was it all clothing? Do you mind if I ask how much time you spent on it in the past month? Maybe I just need to dig my heels in and spend more time! Any advice would be appreciated.

And to "JULIE M"...First, CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss! Second, I've sold some plus size clothing on ebay before and it's always done very well for me. Good luck!!

Hi just curious, whatever I make via paypal I always pay back to ebay community by buying other stuff w/ the $, do you all transfer the paypal to your bank acct or something? just always wondered this....thanks! :confused3 :teeth:

I think they'd sell fairly well. I've yet to sell clothes, but know someone who did and all of her stuff sold with no problems. And plus size, never worn...I'd probably take a look myself.

To Poohluvrs - - - I usually take my money out of Paypal through my debit card. You can get a Paypal debit card for free and you can use it like any debit card and can get cash back (at grocery stores, etc). Plus, it has a visa or a mastercard logo and even though it's not a credit card as long as you have a sufficient balance you can use it like a credit card. And if you use it like a credit card you get a small cash-back bonus. I sometimes also have it transferred to my bank account. That usually takes about three or four days.

I find myself buying Ebay stuff with my paypal money too often, but if I am actually selling to save for something, I'll transfer the money to my bank account. I don't know exactly why, but it's less tempting to spend it that way - maybe a paypal balance feels lsightly less 'real'??? :earboy2:

Last May I sold about 20-25 items of plus size clothing for my mother. No pants or shorts all of it was tops. They were mostly dressy tops from Catherine's and some were casual tops from there as well. The few that were New i listed individually but the others i put them into lots of usually 3 that were similar in style and of course the same size. I did really well and everything sold.

The only bummer was since I was doing it for my mom I didn't get any profits so it was hard getting all excited about bids and then not getting any $$ for my disney fund!
Good Luck!

I was just looking over the ebay "Hot Items" list and I think I remember plus size clothing ranking pretty high.

Plus size clothing does do well, as others have confirmed. You can sell in lots or individual. In lots I would do pants and then another lot of shirts, only because I am sure others, like myself are a different size on top then on bottom.

eeyore-sorry I didn't answer this sooner. I really didn't have anything that was "big ticket", just regular items, some were new with tag, some new without, most gently used. I would definitely take good close-ups, be honest about anything less than perfect. I have noticed it helps to use a ruler if you are describing a defect (stain, spot,etc..) so it helps give the potential buyer a benchmark to evaluate the clothing.

I just had some auctions end today, some did good, 1 did really well (over $27 for a gently worn Lands End skort!) and some didn't go that great at all-those were the most expensive items (Coldwater Creek-but not plus size).

Right now I am selling a lot of my DS's summer clothes and am surprised that I don't have more bids. Wondering if my starting prices should be like .99 or what??

If anyone wants to check out the auctions, my ebay name is mommycookie. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Maybe just not as busy of a time for summer kid's clothes???

Also for Julia M-
I agree that the tops & shorts don't do as well together as they do separately. If you have some tops that would mix and match well or are complementary colors to each other and have the same measurements, then I would like 2 in each auction or something like that. Bottoms are a bit tougher, but again, if they are similar styles and the same same measurements then you might do well with them.

Make sure to include the store or brand name (especially if they are from Macy's) in the title. There are so many listings that I don't search by description anymore unless I am really desperate for something and have the time to look.

GL with you auctions!!!!

You guys are encouraging me to get my but in gear and put clothes on EBAY. I have soooo many plus size clothes, many are new with tags, like the original poster I have dieted down 94 lbs this year and need to unload some clothes. I think I will get busy Sunday and put some clothes on auction...

I'm going to be interested in checking out some of these ebay listings...but I'd also be interested in hearing how you each dropped the weight - then I'd be selling my clothes on ebay too.

I don't have any advice for you, but... Congrads on the weight loss! I'm sort of the same way. I've gone from a 24 to a 14/16 and had to get rid of a TON of clothes. :) What a pain in the neck. ;)
