Newbie to DVC with a couple of questions....

I'm a newbie to DVC since I purchased "sight unseen" via resale a few months back. We are planning our first trip for mid-October 2009. Anyway...I have a couple of questions that may seem rather odd for a newbie that hasn't really stayed at one of the resorts yet. Both of the questions deal with buying more points....

#1 - If I decide to add on points through Disney, can someone get credit for referring me? I am currently a member with 150 points...but, I can see where we will probably add another 50 points in the future. I purchased the initial 150 resale...but, would probably go through Disney for the 50 point add-on depending on the price.

#2 - Do you think Disney will allow 50 point add-ons at BLT at some point in the future? I know there is no way to accurately answer this question, I was just wondering what they may have done in the past for popular resorts. Is BLT the first resort that they "up" the minimum add-on to 100 points? If they did this for another resort in the past, did they bring the miminum back down to 50 or 25 after the initial "sales blitz"?

No. Referrals are for new members. You may have purchased initially via resale, but now you are a member.

As you say, no one really knows what they will do. As far as I can remember, the minimum add on contract (until BLT) was always 25 points, unless you wanted Disney to finance. The minimum for financing was 50.

I do not know what they are doing for add ons to the Grand Californian Villas contracts. . The minimums there may be more than the 25/50.

I personally do not think they will back off the 100 minimum for BLT. I think they are more likely to up the minimums for the other DVC resorts. But that is just an opinion. It's worth what you paid for it, LOL.

The minimum at GCV is 100 points. I believe AKV still has a 25 point minimum.
