I will be taking my first trip to DL in less than 3 weeks (I'm so excited!!! :cool1: ). I had a couple of questions for all of the experts out there.

Is Legoland closer to San Diego or Anaheim? I was thinking about rearranging my hotels and staying in San Diego for 2 nights. I was wondering if I should add another night on in case Legoland is closer to San Diego than Anaheim. Also, my son is 11 1/2, is it worth going to Legoland or are the rides for younger kids? :confused3

As we are flying into LAX, is it a fairly short drive/cheap cab fare to the Amtrak station? We would be getting to San Diego this way.

One last question, for now  , are the tickets that you get off of disneyland.com the same tickets that you would be able to buy being a guest at GC? I know at WDW, you can get upgraded tickets when your a guest on site.(At least you could, I haven't been there since they changed to the MYW tickets). Wasn't sure if it worked the same at DL.

Thanks for any help you can give me. :Pinkbounc

Legoland is in Carlsbad, which is in San Diego County. I think it's probably 15-20 minutes closer to SD than Anaheim. I think Legoland is designed for the 2-12 set, so it depends on the maturity level of your son.

Wouldn't know about cab fare, but I think there might be light rail from LAX (or near it anyway) to Union Station.

So far as I know the ticket are the same. I think they're cheaper in advance.

I wanted to take my son (who loves Legos) to Legoland 5 years ago, but even then when he was 8 he did not seem interested. It seems to be geared more toward younger kids so I would think something else instead might be better for your son. If you are planning to buy 3 or more day park hoppers, you should get your tickets ahead of time so that they will include Early Entry and the ESPN bonus (these are not included when purchased at the gate). If you are planning on visiting Sea World, you might consider purchasing the Southern California CityPass which includes a 3-day park hopper, Knotts, Sea World and either the San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park. Even if you skip one of the attractions, it is still a good deal. Perhaps you could do the Zoo or Knotts rather than Legoland. You can get more information at www.citypass.com. You can get a discounted price at costco.com, even if you are not a member.

Thanks so much for your help. From everything I've heard, now I'm thinking that maybe Legoland shouldn't be on our "to do" list. My son and I are thrill ride junkies, so I had planned on making a trip out to Knotts. (They have some of the best looking roller coasters!!!) :teeth: I do already have my DL tickets, we'll be at GC for 8 days so I bought 5 day hoppers. I also wanted to take a couple of the tours being offered. Do you think this will give us enough time to see everything? I wanted to give us a couple extra days in case we wanted to just go sightseeing. My son is very star struck so I was thinking a day in Hollywood to look around would be kind of neat. Is cab fare/bus fare fairly inexpensive? I don't plan on renting a car while I'm out there and not sure exactly how to get around. I do plan on going to Sea World, but wasn't so sure about the zoo. Everyone raves about it, so I'm thinking maybe I should add that on. So much planning, so little time. We leave in 17 days!!! Thanks again for your help and the citypass site.

another opinoin - Legoland is great fun and a not to be missed but at 11 1/2 unless your som is really into Lego's, I would recommend taking a pass and doing other things. In SD there is the zoo but in LA area is Universal and Magic Mountion and Knotts . We loved Universal. We are trying Magic Mountain this time..

When are you going to CA? I would love to hear how Magic Mountain is. We're leaving in 17 days. I can't wait!! :Pinkbounc From everything that I've heard, I guess we'll pass on Legoland. I love this board!! So much helpful information. :cool1:
