Newbie to DDP

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the DDP and I would just like to know whether you can order anything off the starters/mains menu in restaurants or do they do a separate menu for those on the DDP? I'm sure this is one of those silly questions that everyone, apart from me, knows the answer to so apologies in advance x

There is no separate menu for those on any of the dining plans, so you can order anything you want.

Do note that some items are "for two" which means that two people have to order them, and also some places (I think it's just at Marrakesh) have small surcharges for a couple items. Both of these cases should be clearly marked on the menu or noted by your server (well, the "for two" thing may just be marked as "for two"). Your server will also explain the plan, in relative detail, EVERY SINGLE TIME you eat. It gets old after awhile .

There are virtually no exclusions on any of the menus. The only exclusion I can think of is the "Kitchen Sink" ice cream dessert at Beaches N Cream.

If you are on the regular DDP (1 TS, 1CS, 1 snack per night of your stay) starters (appetizers) will not be included. If you are on the Deluxe Dining Plan (DxDDP), then some of the "For 2" appetizers will require 2 people to order them. At some of the Disney owned restaurants they will let you order the "for 2" starters by just 1 person.

I can't think of any restaurant that will allow a "For 2" mains (entree) to be ordered by just one person.

And as cafeen said, you will hear the explanation of the dining plan every time so don't hesitate to ask questions about a specific item on the menu.

Thanks guys, this makes perfect sense! And yep just on the standard DDP so we'd have to pay for appetizers, got that wrong in my OP. DBF is happy we get dessert as part of the plan though

Just thought of another limitation on the dining plan. Last fall at Via Napoli if you wanted pizza, you could only order the individual size with a dining credit.

One dessert we enjoyed that is "for 2" and required 2 credits is the Dessert Sampler on the lunch and dinner menu at the Grand Floridian Cafe.
