newbie to AP rates

We just purchased an AP for the first time (we live 1100 miles from the park!)...we were there at Xmas, this summer and know we will be back when we cruise in the spring so seemed logical to get one.

Now that we have it, I am debating adding an extra trip this year to SoCal (we also bought AP to SanDiego Zoo)...so how do you find out about the AP rates for the Disney hotels? Do you get notices in the mail/email or do you just call Disney reservations and ask until you get the rate you want? We probably could be flexible on our travel times depending on what we can get.

They do send out periodic AP newsletters with happenings and specials around the parks. I'm not sure, but I think it's quarterly. I would call the resort you are interested in directly or check on the AP section of the DL web site. What west coast sailing will you be on? We are booked for June 25. Have fun planning your trips.

The website is a good place to find deals, also calling and asking about AP Nights or some other AP specials might help also. Often times if you call and ask for just the AP rate, you'll get 10% off. We ended up with $159/night in June of 03 at the GC, and most recently $119/night at PP.

The discounts alone are often times worth the price of the AP especially since only one person in your party needs one to reserve a room.

You're welcome, glad to be able to help. It's not a seperate web site, but a part of the DL site. From the home page click on tickets and reservations, then on annual passports. From there you can log in to an AP section and get lots of good info. CM at the resorts are also very helpful, if you don't see what you want there.
Enjoy your cruise next year. You'll have to go over to the DCL board and post a trip report when you get back. Can't hardly wait!
