Hi all,

I'm usually pretty good about searching for answers instead of asking, but I'm having a difficult time. My boyfriend is taking me to Europe during the first week of March. He's pretty open-minded about where I choose to go. I'm from Detroit and I've only been to Ontario, Canada and cities within the US before. I know that some find the small, out-of-the-way places to be best, but I want the tourist places during this trip.

One option we are considering is Paris. I am a Marriott Rewards member (not that it means much) so that was the first thing I searched for. I found the Village d'Ile-de-France to be relatively cheap compared to Disney hotels and other Marriotts in Paris. I hadn't considered Disneyland Paris before, but since it's so close, I thought it might be fun.

The problem is, I can't understand the transportation system by looking at the websites. I see that there are trains and subways and buses, but do any of them go near the Marriott? If not, will there be taxis at the train station to take to the hotel with our luggage?

I'm not too worried about the amount of time it takes to get into Paris to tour for the day, but I just want to know how to access the subways from our hotel.

My boyfriend wasn't too keen on Paris because he thinks it will be cold (and he's from CANADA! :lmao: ) So we may end up in Venice for Carnevale instead.

Thanks for your help!

Right, I don't know a huge amount about the Marriott but I'll try to help.

The easiest way to get to/from the airport will be a private shuttle firm which will run slightly cheaper than a taxi ~ there's links to firms in the Very Useful Info sticky.

I think if you're visiting Paris rather than Disney then you're probably best to stay in Paris but if this Marriott is working out a lot cheaper and you're not fussed about how long it's going to take then it's certainly 'doable'. To get into Paris first of all you will need to take either the free shuttle bus which runs a few times a day to the Disney parks or alternatively catch the local (I think it's #34) bus from just up the road. Once you are at Disney you can then take the RER train into the centre of Paris. These run every 10-15 minutes and take 40 minutes to reach Paris. You can buy a straightforward ticket there and back but I think you will be better to buy a Mobilis ticket which will also enable you to use the Metro (subway) system.

There's some info on the Marriott in our Hotel FAQ ~ several DISers have stayed there and recommend it.

Hope this helps :goodvibes please ask away if you have any more questions.

Thank you for your help! The hardest information for me to find was the bus schedule. I think #34 is just what I was looking for.

The prices for the Marriotts in Paris go down from Thursday-Sunday while we are there, so we're switching to Marriott Rive Gauche for the second half of our trip.
