Newbie questions

Hi! This is such a wonderful site, thanks for all the great info. I have a couple of questions:

We are planning a trip in May of 08. We will be traveling with 4 adults and 2 kids, and one of the adults is a Florida resident. We are thinking about the BC or CSR. I am leaning towards a deluxe though. I am a planner, and would probably want to book our rooms this summer. If codes or better rates come out after I have booked, can I get an adjustment or how does that work? Should I have the Florida resident book everything in her name? I noticed from some other posts that many of the codes and discounts come out only a couple months before they would be used. I would not want to wait that long to book. Also how else can I get a good deal? Should I become a memeber of AAA now and book through them?

Sorry for questions I am sure have been hashed over many times!

I'm not an expert, but as no-one else replied to you yet..I'll give it a try.

You can book in advance without any problem, and then later, if a discount comes out, you can apply the discount to your reservation...BUT ONLY if there is availability on those dates and for that particular resort. Example: let's say you book BC for the 2nd week of May. A discount may come out in February '08 for May, but when you call they tell you it is not valid at BC on the dates you are there, or there is no availability left. Soooo...if you are looking for a discount, keep your eye out for the announcement (here is as good a place as any) and the day it becomes available, call Disney to apply it to your ressie.

I am not familiar with how florida residency applies to discounts at disney. Check out mousesavers-dot-com, I know they have info on this. They also have a page on the public code discount history, which you could use to help predict when a discount for your visit might occur and how much it might be.

The AAA discount is I believe 10 % or 15%, so it might be worth it to book through them...but usually, if Disney offers a public code, it is better than that discount.

I would say, go ahead and book your dates when your ready, you only pay a $200 deposit per room (or 1 nights stay if it's room-only). Then, watch for discounts when the time comes.
