Hi,

Haven't been to WDW since 1990 (honeymoon) and now we are planning to take our son there this Spring. When we went before we rented a car, but this time we won't be renting. What are my choices in getting from the Airport to the Hotel? (All Star Movies---gotta have Buzz & Woody).

I see people on here going with certain limos or town cars---but are there other choices? Like shuttles or something?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, you could use Mears Shuttle. But if there are more than 3 of you traveling, it would cost about the same for a towncar service. A towncar service will cost you about $100 r/t, plus a tip of about 20% (1/2 each way). You go directly to your resort. It's truly a wonderful way to travel. We have become quite spoiled by it. On my first trip to WDW I didn't know any better and used Mears. The three of us (my mom who was recovering from surgery, 6 y/o dd and myself) were crammed into a van with 6 other people, our luggage at our feet. They told us we could wait for the next van but it might be a 40 minute wait. If I remember correctly the cost was about $70 and that was in '99. Nope, wouldn't go that route again. The towncar driver is waiting for you at baggage claim, puts your stuff in the car and next thing you know...you're at AllStarMovies!!!

Thanks! I am in the process of deciding to book this trip through a travel agent or on my own----this morning I decided I was going to do this by myself and wouldn't you know the travel agency just called me.

She wanted details on what we were interested in and I told her we wanted a Town Car---and she still mentioned Mears. Do they have town car service? I'd hate to get down there and get on a van when I ordered a Town car.

I've read good things about Quicksilver, so I might try to get them. Do you have any personal preferences? and what's the best way of booking them--online, phone and how early?

I actually have a nervous twinge in my belly because I'm so nervous about booking this---I'm so used to doing Vegas trips but now that we have our son, I haven't been to Vegas and this WDW is so new to me. I'm afraid of forgetting to book something or of screwing something up.

Oops, sorry got to rambling there....

Thanks again!

Mears has a towncar service but they're more expensive than the other towncar companies.

When most people talk about taking Mears they are talking about a shared van/bus service. When a travel agency or a package include transfers it's usually the Mears shared service and not a towncar.

I have just finished researching all the transportation options and prices.

Mears Shuttle is $29/person round trip (child fare may be less) and you are on a van with multiple stops. If you don't have any other transportation pre-arranged, this is your only option.

There are many town car/limo services that are quite reliable. The driver meets you in the baggage claim area of the airport and takes you directly to your resort. Most will include a 15 minute grocery store stop if you pre-arrange this. Maximum occupancy for a town car is 4 people. Limo sizes vary.

Tiffany Towncar(1-888-838-2161) has a website you can check their prices and there is a $5 coupon for booking online for a return trip.

Happy Limo (1-888-394-HAPPY) has a website as well, and they give $5 off round trip bookings, if you mentioned you heard about them through mousesavers.com Use Code MS5569.

If you have 5 to 10 people in your group, you can book a van at Tiffany for $110 plus gratuity or at Happy for $130, including gratuity and discount. So these equal about the same if you give a $10 tip each way.

There is also FL Tours (1-888-832-2111), a sponsor of the DIS boards, but they are cash only. They charge $105 for a town car and $120 for a van plus gratuity.

Hope this helps.:wave2:

We're using Murray Hill Transportation next week. $80.00 Round trip MCO to OKW (tip not included) they offer a 30 minute free grocery stop (@ Publix - AND they faxed me an aisle list for the store :) ) plus they will stop at the entrance for a picture if you want.

I've read some great reviews; and John & Marie have certainly been very helpful to us so far.

I was about to book with Tiffany, as I saw some other good posts about them.

I'm going 10/20, so you may not be able to post by then but DO post an update with the results of your ride with Murray Hill.

Thanks and hope you have fund!

"If you don't have any other transportation pre-arranged, this is your only option."

Not true. MCO, like all major airports, is amply supplied with taxis that will take you anywhere you like. You will usually pay more using a taxi than a pre-reserved car service (because of the meter) but you won't be forced to take the Mears shuttle if you prefer not to.
